What’s the Most Expensive Car That Jay Leno Owns?
Celebrities, with all their wealth, tend to own some of the most incredible car collections. Some are flashy supercar variations, while others steer toward more classic model collections. Still, most would agree that one of the most impressive collections of all belongs to Jay Leno. Leno is an avid collector of classic cars and some of the most expensive models, costing millions of dollars.
If you’ve ever tuned into Jay Leno’s Garage, you’ve likely seen a few of Leno’s most iconic classic cars. With roughly 300 in the total collection, ever-changing as he buys and sells ongoing, there are plenty that would cost multi-millions to buy. So, out of all his sweet rides, which one is the absolute most expensive of them all?
The runner-up to the most expensive car in Jay Leno’s collection
Jay Leno is more of an aficionado, with massive respect for every car in his sprawling and costly collection. However, according to GetJerry, one car is “the crown jewel” and may be Leno’s absolute favorite of the bunch. The 1994 McLaren F1 is a stunning sports car for sure. HotCars says in its prime, this car set the Guinness World Record as the fastest production car globally, clocking a blistering speed of 240.1 mph. Additionally, it also happens to be the runner-up to the most expensive in Leno’s entire car collection. The McLaren is said to be worth around $12 million, which represents a price tag that only celebrities can afford.
The most expensive car in Leno’s garage
The 1934 Duesenberg Walker Coupe is said to have sold for a mere $25,000 upon its introduction. Built in Indianapolis, Fred and Augie Duesenberg engineered these cars as “technically advanced race cars” that were impressive on the track. However, that was before the depression hit and wiped out the Duesenberg company in 1937, according to Auto Week.
Today, the Duesenberg Walker Coupe is said to be worth $20 million, earning it the distinction as the most expensive car in Jay Leno’s entire car collection. It’s supposedly the only aerodynamic version of its kind in existence, making it incredibly rare. And Leno’s not shy about showing it off from time to time.
There is one car that’s considered to be priceless
Jay Leno’s McLaren and Duesenberg Walker Coupe may be the two most expensive cars in the garage, with estimated costs well into the multi-millions. However, there is still one more unique car that might outrank even those incredible cars. There’s one car that only Jay Leno owns, making it so rare, it’s priceless.
Money, Inc. shared the details of Leno’s collaboration with GM to create the 2006 EcoJet. It was inspired by the 1963 Chrysler Turbine, using a bio-diesel engine instead of the traditional fuel design. Leno himself, along with a fellow garage technician and enthusiast, worked on drafting original concepts for GM to produce. Because of his efforts in bringing this iconic ride to life, Leno didn’t have to pay for it. However, because it’s the only one in existence, most consider the one-off supercar more priceless than anything. Should Leno ever decide to part with it, it would likely fetch far more than any other in his collection.
There’s no question Jay Leno’s car collection trumps any other celebrity garage lineup. Some of the other models that rank up there in price include his 1966 Oldsmobile Tornado ($150,000,) the 1909 Stanley Steamer ($185,000,) the Blastolene Special ($350,000,) and the 2014 McLaren P1 ($1.35 million.) However, these three aforementioned models, in particular, are said to represent millions of dollars collectively and are hands-down Leno’s most expensive models of all.
