The Honda Ridgeline doesn’t get enough respect. It never has. Since its debut in 2006, the Honda Ridgeline has been a great, reliable, and, yes, maybe an ugly pickup truck, but ugly doesn’t mean bad. However, after all these years, Honda has finally decided to upgrade the Ridgeline in several areas, which may finally pull the Honda truck from its place as one of the most hated pickup trucks around. 

Why is the Honda Ridgeline so unpopular? 

It’s hard to explain why the Honda Ridgeline gets no love without taking a few shots at truck people. The Honda Ridgeline is a unibody truck platform with more elements in common with SUVs and even some sedans than the more popular full-size pickup trucks. The Ridgeline has never been overly powerful, fast, good off-road, or really anything else you think of when you think of a great pickup truck. If that weren’t bad enough, the Ridgeline is also quite ugly. 

Now, hear me when I say, other than the ugly part, most of the things people don’t like about the Ridgeline are fairly silly critiques, considering the Honda Ridgeline does plenty of what most truck drivers actually use their trucks for. 

Is there a 2024 Honda Ridgeline? 

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline has officially been announced, and major improvements are inbound. Aside from the very cool new 2024 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport, the entire line is getting a pile of monster improvements. 

All Ridgelines have now upgraded to a slightly larger 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with a higher resolution, quicker responses, and a simplified layout compared to the infotainment suite it replaces. Unfortunately, the Ridgeline still doesn’t offer the even bigger and better screen and system found in the new Honda Accord. 

Every new Ridgeline also now features a new center console. Owners now get a larger storage bin, a new wireless charger, and a massive cup holder able to accommodate a 32-oz water bottle. 

Is there a new 2024 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport? 

As mentioned earlier, the new TrailSport is getting closer to earning its sporty name. Previously, the TrailSport was little more than a slightly cooler-looking truck with some semi-knobby tires. However, for 2024, the Honda TrailSport is getting a bit more serious. This new “off-road” variant finally gets things like a uniquely tuned off-road suspension, proper all-terrain tires, a bash plate, and a new trim-specific paint color called Diffused Sky Blue. 

It is really exciting to see Honda put a little more effort into the Ridgeline. The Honda truck has always been a pretty smart option. Sure, if you need a truck for hardcore off-roading or towing heavy rigs, then the Honda pickup truck probably isn’t for you. However, most people today use their pickup trucks like a car; they drive to work, the grocery store, a ball game, etc. With that in mind, the Honda Ridgeline is perfect. It is comfortable, easy to drive, somewhat efficient, and all-around reasonable. Plus, it can still tow up to 5,000 pounds.

All that to be said, the Honda Ridgeline still could use a little work, but it is getting a hell of a lot closer than ever before.
