The Most Reliable 2024 Toyota SUVs Don’t Include the Sequoia
Buckle up, 2024 is proving to be a wild year. Massive changes are happening to Toyota SUVs, including the return of the Land Cruiser and the debut of the redesigned Toyota 4Runner. Updating these Toyota SUVs has caused some fluctuation in reliability rankings.
What are the most reliable Toyota SUVs?
In 2024, the list of the top three most reliable Toyota SUVs starts with the 2024 Toyota 4Runner. Some lists, like the one generated by CarBuzz, don’t include the 2024 4Runner because the 2025 model dropped and isn’t rated yet.
However, the 2024 model is still available, and J.D.Power gave it a reliability score of 86 out of 100, which is great. Scores between 70 and 80 are average, anything between 80 and 90 is above average, and scores between 91 and 100 are best.
Because the 4Runner is all-new, it could receive a lower score for 2025. The redesigned Toyota Tundra and Sequoia were released with a few problems that needed to be addressed, leading to lower scores.
Also, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander just debuted in 2024, so it doesn’t have an official rating yet. J.D.Power is waiting for consumer feedback to assign an accurate rating. The Toyota Land Cruiser also doesn’t have an official score.
The second most reliable SUV in the 2024 Toyota lineup is the efficient and impressive 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross. J.D.Power gave it a reliability ranking of 77. It has an average score, but it’s still respectable with a low number of owner complaints.
Last but not least on my list of the most reliable Toyota SUVs for the year is the 2024 Toyota Highlander. It didn’t get off to a great start in 2020 but has made significant improvements since then.
J.D.Power gave the 2024 Highlander a reliability score of 79, which is only two points away from the above-average category.
Meanwhile, the RAV4 has a 76, the Sequoia earned a 75, and the bZ4X is off to a rough start with a 64. It’s the least reliable Toyota SUV and the only electric one.
