The Most Reliable Full-Size Truck Left the Toyota Tundra in the Dust
If you want a new truck, going for the most reliable option can prevent a few headaches in the long run. For years the Toyota Tundra was the unrivaled king of durability, but the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 recently stole its throne.
The most reliable full-size truck is the 2024 Chevy Silverado
Sorry Toyota Tundra fans, the latest generation doesn’t live up to its reputation for being the most reliable full-size truck. It was the best new truck for durability for years.
However, according to the U.S.News, the most reliable truck on the market is currently the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500.
The U.S. News made a list of the most reliable trucks by comparing scores from J.D.Power. The 2024 Silverado 1500 earned a score of 87/100 while the 2024 Tundra earned a 78.
So, the Silverado 1500 is nine points ahead and it’s in a higher category. Scores between 70 and 80 are average, anything between 81 and 90 is above average, and scores between 91 and 100 are best. It’s impressive that the Silverado came this close to being in the best section.
J.D.Power gives each truck a reliability score based on feedback from actual overs. It sends out surveys to millions of verified owners, allowing them to report any issues that they’ve faced. Everything from the paint, interior, performance, transmission, tech, and more is included.
Based on these findings, it’s safe to assume that the Tundra has fewer reported problems than the Silverado 1500. The same can be applied to the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150.
The average Silverado 1500 model is expected to last between 200,000 to 250,000 miles. However, there are examples that have surpassed 300,000 miles. Proper care and regular maintenance make a difference, y’all.
There are a few examples of Tundra models that have lasted over 1,000,000 miles, but those are from the previous generation. The current Tundra generation launched in 2022, and it launched with serious issues and currently faces a massive engine failure lawsuit.
Stay tuned for updates, as trucks continuously change every year. The next most reliable full-size truck could be a different model.
