Looking at the scores from J.D. Power, the most reliable midsize SUV for the money is the 2023 Nissan Murano. It earned a reliability score of 90 out of 100, the highest in the segment. U.S. News gave the SUV high marks for a comfortable ride and spacious cabin. It isn’t the most luxurious vehicle on the market, but it has a reasonable price of between $33,660 and $46,910 for a fully-loaded Nissan Murano.

Thanks to the 3.5L V6 engine, it gets 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. The 2023 Murano also gets 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, with front or all-wheel drive.

On top of that, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety made this midsize SUV a Top Safety Pick Plus winner. It protected the driver and passengers in all of the main crashworthiness tests. Additionally, the NHTSA gave the Murano a five-star overall safety rating.

The IIHS gave the Blazer high scores on the main crashworthiness tests. This midsize SUV also earned high marks from the NHTSA. Even with the base model, the 2023 Blazer is one of the best SUVs for the money.

Kia makes a few reliable midsize SUVs for the money

The 2023 Kia Sorento has a predicted reliability score of 83 out of 100. As one of the cheapest three-row SUVs for the money, the Kia Sorento starts at only $29,990. A fully-loaded Sorento will run you $43,590 or so. Some of the highlights of the Sorento include its upscale interior and a long list of standard features. It also comes pretty well equipped with safety systems for the price.

Kia offers two different powertrain options, a 2.5L four-cylinder, and a turbo version. The base engine gets 191 horsepower and 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. With the turbo engine, the Sorento gets 281 horsepower, along with 22/29 mpg city/highway.

The IIHS made the 2023 Kia Sorento a Top Safety Pick winner. It earned high scores on all of the main crashworthiness tests. The SX, SX-Prestige, and Hybrid SX Prestige trims have LED projector headlights that scored better on the IIHS testing.
