The most reliable pickup truck from the past 10 years isn’t a Toyota
We know what you’re thinking. The most reliable pickup truck from the past 10 years must be from Toyota. That’s an excellent guess, but another Japanese truck takes the crown. See how the Nissan Titan managed to win.
The most reliable pickup truck from the past 10 years is the Nissan Frontier
According to J.D.Power, the 2023/2024 Nissan Titan is the most reliable pickup truck from the past 10 years. It earned a reliability rating of 88 out of 100, which is great.
Scores between 70 and 80 are average, while scores between 81 and 90 are above-average. Anything between 91 and 100 is best. It’s very rare to see scores above 85. The 2024 model has 0/37 problems per 1,000 trucks sold, and the 2023 model has 0.26.
Each score is based on feedback from actual drivers. A survey is sent out to thousands of vehicle owners, allowing them to report any problems they face. Everything from the paint, transmission, engine, and electronics, is included.
The 2023 model is identical to the 2024 truck. The 2023 model has five complaints while the 2024 model only has three so far. The complaints are related to powertrain issues.
Plus, the most reliable pickup truck has a low amount of recalls. The 2023 Titan was recalled due to a problem with the tires and transmission. The 2024 Titan was recalled because of two airbag problems.
The 2021 Toyota Tundra landed in sixth place on the list, which is surprisingly low. It has a reliability score of 86 with a rate of 0.20 problems per 1,000 models sold.
It has 16 complaints with electrical issues being the most common. There are three recalls related to leaking oil and a fire risk.
The 2015 Toyota Tacoma came in ninth place with a score of 85. It has 0.49 complaints per 1,1000 models sold.
There are 88 complaints that are mostly related to peeling pain and a sudden loss of power. It has four recalls related to incorrect labeling and airbag problems.
The most reliable pickup truck could change next year as the Titan is being discontinued. What will replace it?
