The 2016 Honda Fit is a reliable and fun pick. Consumer Reports gave the Fit solid ratings in both reliability and owner satisfaction. The fuel economy is noted as an overall mileage of 33 miles per gallon.

That’s 24 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallon on the highway. With an estimated annual fuel cost of $865, the Fit won’t break the bank getting you around town.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the side and front crash ratings as “good,” while the driver side was rated as “acceptable.” The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rated both the driver and passenger frontal-crash ratings five stars.

Priced at $11,375 to $13,750, the 2016 Honda Fit is a reliable used car choice.

The 2016 Mazda3 is a solid pick with a hatchback option

The 2016 Mazda3 received a score of five out of five for reliability. It is available with four doors or a hatchback option. The 2.0L four-cylinder came with a six-speed automatic.

The front, driver, and side crash ratings were rated as “good” by the IIHS. The NHTSA gave the frontal-crash rating on the driver’s side five stars, while the passenger side received four out of five stars.

The Mazda3 has an overall combined mileage of 33 miles per gallon. 23 miles per gallon in the city and 45 miles per gallon on the highway. The estimated annual fuel cost is right around $875.

Priced at $11,175 to $14,925, The Mazda3 is a fairly priced used car pick.

Everyone loves the 2016 Toyota Corolla

No matter the year, the Toyota Corolla is a reliable used car choice. The reliability score was five out of five, while the owner satisfaction was at a three. The IIHS and NHTSA scores were good. Both driver and passenger frontal-crash ratings received five stars.

Overall, the fuel economy came in at 32 miles per gallon combined. 43 miles per gallon on the highway and 23 in the city isn’t bad, with an estimated cost of $890 for the year.

The Corolla is comfortable and handles well. A 1.8L four-cylinder gets you where you need to go. The Corolla is priced at $11,375 to $13,500.

Another solid choice is the 2016 Toyota Yaris

Another Toyota pick leaves us with the 2016 Yaris as a solid option. It has an overall mileage of 32 miles per gallon. 41 miles on the highway and 23 in the city, but the annual fuel cost came in above the others at $905.

The Yaris didn’t score as high as the other options across the board, but it is one of the cheaper options. Priced from $9,175 to $10,725, you can get away with a Yaris for a bargain price.

It is pretty tiny, but the Yaris fits up to five people. The seats aren’t that comfortable, but it will get you there safely.

A highly-rated 2016 Volkswagen Jetta

The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta is solid. It came in at three out of five for reliability and two out of five for owner satisfaction. IIHS noted the crash ratings as “good.” The Jetta also received four out of five stars from the NHTSA for crash ratings.

The overall fuel mileage was similar to the others at 32. The Jetta came in at 47 miles per gallon on the highway and 21 in the city, which isn’t bad. This Volkswagen did come in higher than the others on the list for annual fuel cost at around $1,050.
