When The Matrix movie originally came out in 1999, it inspired Hyundai to produce its own Matrix hatchback. Over twenty years later, and the fourth movie is about to be released. You’re not likely to think about vehicles this time. You’re more apt to conjure up images of motorcycles instead. According to DriveMag Riders, one particular motorcycle model will be highlighted in at least one scene from the movie. What is it, and will we see more?

What does ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ trailer contain?

The Matrix Resurrections shows Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are returning to reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity. The trailer starts with Neo talking to a therapist about the “dreams” he was having, which felt like they were more than just dreams. He was beginning to think that he was going crazy due to the odd occurrences, like birds flying in a concentric pattern. 

As the trailer goes on, we see Neo throwing his blue pills away, which we know from the previous movies, as the pills that make one believe what they see around them is their reality. Now that he’s no longer on those pills, he’s no longer under the influence he once was. According to Collider, when he meets up with what appears to be a younger version of Morpheus, he is given the red pill. This drug represents the unraveling of the pseudo-reality he was in. 

Neo meets Trinity at a coffee shop, but their handshake brings a connection that somehow they’ve met before. Later, we see Trinity and Neo fighting off a militarized squad on the roof of a building. Neo uses his supernatural abilities to stop the bullets from hitting them, and he manages to divert the path of a missile from one helicopter to the other, effectively blowing it up. A new character, played by Jessica Henwick, shows up and more action scenes ensue. 

The trailer ends much the same as it begins, with Neo talking to another therapist, played by Jonathan Groff. This time the therapist talks about going back to where it all started for Neo, back to the Matrix, which is where the trailer effectively ends. 

What motorcycles is the new ‘Matrix’ movie going to highlight?

There are significant points from the trailer, but what cycle enthusiasts are excited about seeing are the motorcycle action scenes this movie promises to deliver to the audience. The one from the trailer has many people on the edge of their seats already because it appears that the motorcycle Neo and Trinity are riding is a Ducati Scrambler 1100 Pro, according to the Bikes Republic. 

Ducati is known for its line of high-quality cycles, to the point where it’s been referred to as the Ferrari of motorcycles. This particular model of the Ducati, which is also known for its iconic engine and design, has been modified with a different exhaust system and has a car mudguard over the rear wheel of the bike. Also, the front brakes were removed for safety and filming purposes so the cycle could be hooked directly up to the director’s platform. Previously leaked photos showed the pair riding and performing stunts in dense fog. 

It looks like this isn’t the first time the Trinity character has ridden a Ducati motorcycle. Back in The Matrix Reloaded from 2003, she rode a Ducati 996 Superbike in one of the movie’s highway chase scenes. Will there be more than just the one motorcycle scene in The Matrix 4?

We don’t know the answer to that as of yet. But the chances are pretty good. According to Inside Hook, Glory Motor Works shop provided the film crew with the bikes needed for the shots. The owner, Justin Kell, plays a huge part in providing movie sets with the motorcycle props they require. He also offers maintenance and riding instruction as well. 

In his interview with Inside Hook, he talks about working with Keanu Reeves, who loves motorcycles, and has his own line of cycles. The Matrix 4 film shot all the motorcycle scenes in six weeks in San Francisco. He wasn’t at liberty to discuss any details about what scenes they ultimately shot, but one could render a guess that there was more than one scene worked on because of the fun he reportedly had onset. 

We’ll find out for sure when the movie comes out on December 22, 2021. In the meantime, we can catch a glimpse of the Ducati in a brief few seconds of the trailer. Or you can get one of Reeve’s Arch line of motorcycles.
