The 2022 Genesis GV80 starts at $49,700. The base 2.5T RWD model has a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base GV80 has a power output of 300 horsepower that’s impressive for an entry-level model in its class. Its standard configuration is rear-wheel drive (RWD) for a comfortable and athletic performance.

You can enhance the driving experience using five drive modes. Those include Comfort, Snow, Eco, Sport, and Custom. The Custom mode lets you adjust shift points, suspension firmness, throttle response, and more, according to Kelley Blue Book.

The GV80 is loaded with great standard features. It comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a Power Hands-Free Smart Liftgate, and LED headlights and taillights. Inside, you get dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette seating, and power-adjustable front seats. You get two USB ports in the front with two extra USB ports for the second row. Additionally, many will love the infotainment system used in the GV80 with its 14.5-inch screen. The system provides Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, and a SiriusXM trial, along with a 12-speaker audio system.

Lastly, safety is one of the things the 2022 Genesis GV80 does best. It offers many great standard features like automatic high beams, a Blind-Spot View Monitor, Forward-Collision Avoidance Assist, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist II. You also get Lane Following Assist, Lane-Keep Assist, rain-sensing wipers, Rear Cross-Traffic Assist, and Safe Exit Assist.

What’s included in the Genesis GV80 Prestige Signature model?

At the top of this luxury vehicle’s trim list is the upcoming Genesis GV80 Prestige Signature model. It starts at $75,200, but with all the bells and whistles, it could go well over $80,000 when it’s released.

It’s powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a power output of 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, it will come with standard all-wheel drive, according to Autoblog. All GV80 models equipped with the V6 get standard electronically controlled suspension with road preview. The road preview is an innovative feature that analyzes the road ahead for impediments and imperfections and makes necessary adjustments.

On the inside, the second row of this model is a luxurious experience with six-way captain’s chairs and a wireless charging pad for your devices, according to J.D. Power. There’s also a Relax Mode so you can make adjustments for the ultimate comfort. The upholstery is upgraded to leather with microfiber suede, and you get a 12.3-inch 3D digital gauge cluster. Additionally, there’s probably plenty of additional luxury features included in the GV80 Prestige Signature trim level that are still kept under wraps until its release date.

How does it compare to key rivals?

The 2021 Genesis GV80 snagged the top spot on the best luxury SUV on Car and Driver’s list of every 2021 mid-size luxury crossover and SUV ranked from worst to best. It also received a 2021 Car and Driver’s 10 Best Car and Trucks award. For the first SUV from the brand, it’s impressive.

The GV80 can definitely hold its own in its class. The 2022 BMW X5 has a more robust engine option, and it is comparable in features to the GV80. However, it starts at around $10,000 more than the GV80. Likewise, the 2022 Audi A7 starts at $69,200 and is as stylish and mannerly as the GV80. Still, you can get an Audi A6 sedan for less money.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 starts around $37,000, but for that, you get an underwhelming base engine and a cabin that can’t match the quality of the GV80. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class starts at $54,950, offers top quality, plenty of space, and great tech features. However, it has something in common with the GV80 in that neither offers a hybrid model.

Still, while the 2022 Genesis GV80 doesn’t offer a hybrid or high-performance model yet, it’s still incredibly well done. The GV80 becomes a stronger contender with each model year.
