What does a baseline 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E cost?

The baseline 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the Select, which according to Ford, starts at an MSRP of $43,895 (or $36,395 after the federal electric vehicle tax credit).  The Select has an EPA estimated range of 230 miles and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds with a standard range battery. The car comes with a motor that produces up to 266 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.

How much will a fully loaded Mach-E set you back?

The high-end Ford Mustang Mach-E is known as the GT, and it offers a motor that produces up to 480 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, which is pretty impressive for an EV. 

While the Select could only reach a range of 230 miles, the GT will get you farther with its extended range capabilities. You can expect to cruise for around 270 miles in the GT trim before having to stop for a charge. 

The Mach-E GT also clearly has the Select beat when it comes to acceleration power. It can reach 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. (Additionally, the Performance Edition GT can achieve this feat in even less time, clocking in at 3.5 seconds). 

All of these perks come with a hefty price tag, of course. The MSRP for the Mustang Mach-E GT is just under $62,000. While that’s more affordable than some luxury EVs on the market, it’s still steep for many consumers. 

What are the prices of the Ford Mustang Mach-E’s EV competitors?

If you’re in the market for a new EV, you’ll want to shop around before you decide that the Ford Mustang Mach-E is the car for you. Other options you might want to consider include the Hyundai Kona EV, the Chevy Bolt EUV, the Kia Niro EV, and the Volkswagen ID.4. So, how do these vehicles compare to the Mustang Mach-E when it comes to MSRP?

The Hyundai Kona EV is an interesting case when it comes to pricing. As Kelley Blue Book notes, the 2022 model starts at $34,000 for the basic SEL trim. This is actually $3,000 less than the 2021 Kona EV went for. 

Also going down in price for 2022 is the Chevy Bolt EUV. The Bolt EUV LT’s base model has an MSRP of $33,000, plus a $995 destination charge. The higher-end Bolt EUV Premiere, meanwhile, starts at $37,500.

A little higher on the pricing scale is the 2022 Kia Niro EV, a crossover SUV, which starts at $39,900. However, it’s still more affordable than the Mustang Mach-E if you’re not quite sure you want to shell out the dough needed for Ford’s new EV. 

Finally, there’s the Volkswagen ID.4, which in 2021 also started at just under $40,000. So all of these alternatives to the Mustang Mach-E are somewhat more affordable, but only you can decide whether they offer everything you want in your EV.
