While it’s one of Ford’s smallest vans, that just makes it easier to drive and maneuver around crowded streets. For 2023, there are five different trims, along with several customizations for the Ford Transit Connect. How much will this van cost if you want all the best options?
How many Ford Transit Connect trims are available?
The base 2023 Ford Transit Connect XL Cargo Van starts at $34,100 and seats two in the cabin. Since it doesn’t have to accommodate any passengers in the back half of the vehicle, it promises nearly 123 cubic ft of cargo capacity. The long-wheelbase version grants you nearly 26 extra cubic ft, and both have a maximum cargo height nearing 50 ft.
The Transit Connect is powered by a 162-hp turbo-four engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A center touchscreen is optional, though the base cargo van still has Bluetooth. Other standard features include vinyl seats, power steering, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
The Ford Transit Connect XL Passenger Wagon seats up to seven people if you get the optional second-row bench seat. It has all of the Cargo Van’s features, plus a 4.2-inch center display, side curtain airbags, and rearview camera. This model starts at $35,600.
The Ford Transit Connect XLT Cargo van is priced at $36,275 and comes with the Sync 3 infotainment system standard. Smartphone integration can be accessed through the 6.5-inch touchscreen. You also gain Ford MyKey, a few extra safety features, two USB ports, and a wireless charging pad.
Those features carry over to the XLT Passenger Wagon, which costs at least $37,715. Dual-zone climate control is standard in the Passenger Wagon, but you’ll have to pay extra to have it in the Cargo Van. The XLT trim can also be optioned with the Trailer Tow package, allowing it to pull up to 2,000 lbs. However, the payload capacity for this van maxes out at 1,550 lbs.
How much is a fully loaded Ford Transit Connect?
The Ford Transit Connect Titanium Passenger Wagon starts at $39,800 and is the only trim with heated front seats. You also get HID headlights, more leather surfaces throughout the van, voice-activated navigation, and an upgraded nine-speaker stereo system.
The Titanium Passenger Wagon also has an optional panoramic sunroof for $995, complete with a power-closing shade. Roof rails are already included, but you can also swap those out for a roof rack with crossbars. Ford also allows you to customize this van with an engine block heater and an electric window defroster.
Remote start with a built-in perimeter alarm can be added for $565, and the forward/reverse sensing system costs an extra $200. You can upgrade the standard cruise control to an adaptive system for $795 and order all-weather floormats for around $200. Minus destination or other fees, a fully loaded Ford Transit Connect Titanium Passenger Wagon costs $43,090.
Which Transit Connect trim is the best?
From a value perspective, Car and Driver believes that the Ford Transit Connect XLT trims are the clear winners. Editors also appreciated that the advanced safety suite on these models includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-keeping assist.
AutoNews reports that the 2023 model will be the Ford Transit Connect’s last year of production in North America. Ford cited decreased consumer demand and the desire to simplify global manufacturing as the reason for the van’s demise. It will likely be missed, but there is one notable positive of this news. Discontinued models are usually cheaper than their in-production counterparts, even if you want the fully-loaded trim.
