People who follow news about cars are likely to have heard about Nissan discontinuing the Maxima in the middle of 2023, so the automaker can shift its focus toward creating electric vehicles. The 2023 Nissan Maxima has three trims; the SV, SR, and Platinum. This article will focus on the fully loaded 2023 Nissan Maxima Platinum trim and cover the specs, safety features and ratings, performance, and pricing.

The 2023 Nissan Maxima Platinum has a 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 engine that produces up to 300 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. The Platinum trim has front-wheel drive with a continuously variable transmission and a drive mode selector. The anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution come standard, and the car has front and rear vented disks. Drivers will love the hydroelectric power steering, requiring less effort to turn the steering wheel.

Car and Driver found that the Maxima Platinum is one of the quicker full-size sedans and can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, which is faster than V6 models of the Dodge Charger. The car also handles corners well with very little body lean and has a nicely damped suspension that borders on being too stiff for the class.

Safety features and ratings of the 2023 Maxima

Regarding safety, you’ll love the features that the 2023 Nissan Maxima Platinum has in store. The Intelligent Lane Intervention system alerts drivers that they’re at risk of departing from their lane and will display sound a warning chime. It will also help them avoid leaving their lane by applying the brakes. When driving, it’s easy to let our attention wander or become fatigued, which has potentially disastrous consequences. If the system determines that the driver has reduced awareness, it will sound a chime based on steering input patterns when you’re driving over 37 mph. As for safety ratings, the IIHS and the NHTSA have yet to conduct their crash tests for the 2023 Nissan Maxima.

2023 Nissan Maxima interior amenities

If you’ve ever driven in the morning or evening with the sun behind you, you know how difficult it can make the driving experience, even more so when the sun is in front of you, low enough that the visors can’t do anything. To combat the blinding light from the sun from the rear, the Platinum trim of the 2023 Nissan Maxima comes with a power-operated rear sunshade, making it easier to look behind you while driving when the sun is low. The Platinum also features leather seats with diamond-quilted inserts, heated rear seats, and a wood interior trim.

How much does the 2023 Nissan Maxima Platinum cost?

As the fully loaded option of the 2023 Nissan Maxima, it makes sense that the Platinum trim is more expensive than its other two trims, but it’s still only slightly more costly than the SR trim. The Platinum trim starts at around $45,345, which is well worth it for those who want to experience everything the trim offers.

If the Maxima is the type of car you’ve wanted for a while, then now is your chance to purchase one before Nissan stops production on the model to focus on making electric cars. The fully loaded Platinum trim is worth the price considering all the safety features, performance, and design details. While we’re disappointed that there will be no more Nissan Maxima vehicles in the future, we look forward to what comes next.
