Not too long ago, the EV market was empty in the United States. Then, every brand had a singular EV they were pushing as its main foray into the market. Nissan was confidently backing the Nissan Leaf EV, BMW had just released its dynamically styled i3, and Chevy was putting all of its EV investment into one model; the Chevrolet Bolt EV.
Since then, the Chevrolet EV market has continued to expand further and further, incorporating a much-anticipated EV pickup truck, the future Chevrolet Silverado EV, and a larger Bolt offering in the Bolt EUV, an SUV-sized take on the Bolt. Recently, Chevrolet unveiled its newest EV offering, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV. Yes, this sporty crossover SUV, fit to fill the space of the soon-to-be-discontinued Camaro, is getting a model with an all-electric drivetrain. How much is the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV?
According to Chevrolet, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV will be priced around $44,995 for the 1LT trim, $47,595 for the 2LT trim level, and around $51,995 for the sportier RS model. The top trim level, the performance-minded SS model, will start its pricing at around $65,995. Of course, these prices are subject to change, and according to the fine print in Chevrolet’s press release, dealers will be setting the final price, including all taxes, fees, and optional equipment.
What is included with each Chevy Blazer trim level?
Starting with the Chevy Blazer EV 1LT model, you get a 247-mile range with front-wheel drive. For the 2LT model, the range increases to 293 miles, and an all-wheel drive drivetrain is offered as an option. The range increases to 320 miles for the RS model and high-speed 190kW fast charging is available, along with heated and ventilated front seats and steering wheel. What makes the RS unique is the fact it can be ordered standard in either rear-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, as well as still offering all-wheel drive as an option.
The performance-focused SS model decreases range a bit to 290 miles but comes with all of the amenities of the RS trim, but with all-wheel drive as the only drivetrain option. The Blazer EV SS is planning to come with world-class Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned chassis, and a 0-60 mph time of fewer than 4 seconds.
Bringing excitement back to the Blazer
For years, the Chevy Blazer was a capable offroader and family vehicle for many consumers. Many critics were skeptical when the Blazer was reintroduced as a crossover, gas-powered SUV. Still, with the EV Blazer and the EV Blazer SS, the Blazer name has a chance to take over as the performance vehicle that GM loyalists have been asking for.
With Chevy going all-in on the Blazer EV, with a police variant also being released, the Blazer EV PPV, it looks like Chevy is putting everything they have into this next generation of the Blazer.
