Dodge is doing something fairly unheard of for the company: selling a new car. For years, the only Dodge vehicles you could buy were the Dodge Challenger, which is largely unchanged from its 2008 debut model, the Dodge Charger, which is similar to its 2011 iteration, and the Dodge Durango, which is mostly just a Jeep Grand Cherokee due to it being built on the same platform.

However, Dodge is unveiling a new lineup of vehicles to live up to its “e-Muscle” promises, which aim to give the same excitement as the gas-powered Dodge muscle cars, albeit with electrified powertrains. The first in this series of “e-Muscle” cars is the Dodge Hornet, a compact crossover with aggressive styling and an optional plug-in hybrid powertrain. Are you looking to get behind the wheel of the next great Dodge muscle car? Look no further; here is how much you can expect to spend on a base model Hornet and a fully loaded top-of-the-line model.

2024 Dodge Hornet GT – price, specs, and features

The base model of the 2024 Dodge Hornet is the GT model, and it, along with the GT Plus model, are the only two Hornet models returning from the 2023 model year. According to Dodge, the Hornet GT starts at $30,735 MSRP. For that price, you get a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine produces around 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to all four wheels for great compact crossover performance. This powerplant is good for an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

Regarding features and exterior design, the Hornet GT is an aggressive beast of a crossover SUV. Arrow-shaped headlights lead your eyes into the center “double hashes” Dodge emblem on the center of the grille. In the interior, the Hornet GT is well equipped with a large 10.3-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, rain-sensing wiper blades, and dual-zone climate control as standard features, according to Car and Driver. The Dodge Hornet GT is a solid compact crossover SUV that aims to appeal to performance-minded crossover owners without having to splurge on a Porsche Macan to get a performance-focused model.

What’s included in the 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T Plus?

The top-of-the-line Dodge Hornet is the Dodge Hornet R/T Plus, a brand new model for the 2024 model year. According to Dodge, the R/T Plus starts at $45,935 MSRP. For that price, you get the much-anticipated plug-in hybrid powertrain. This PHEV powertrain consists of a 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Together, this produces around 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain follows the same blueprint as the GT in having AWD as standard equipment. Unlike the Hornet GT, the Hornet R/T Plus is capable of driving around 32 miles on battery power alone.

The “Plus” part of the Hornet R/T Plus designation gives this Hornet model the most premium interior in the lineup. Some key standard features of this interior include a power sunroof, wireless device charging pad, heated leather steering wheel, ventilated and heated front seats, a hands-free power liftgate, and Brembo premium brakes. With these premium interior features and a revolutionary plug-in hybrid drivetrain, the Dodge Hornet R/T Plus is a cutting-edge compact performance crossover SUV.

Additional add-ons and packages for the Hornet

If you want to take your Dodge Hornet R/T Plus to the next level for a true, fully loaded model, you are in luck. Extra premium features can be added for an additional price. Premium paint can be ordered for your Hornet, which adds $595 to the original price. Red leather seats can be ordered for an additional $495, and the Track Pack can also be added for $2,595, which adds larger 20-inch wheels, red-painted brake calipers, and sport mode suspension. These add-ons can be packaged with the R/T Blacktop package, which also adds a dark Hornet and R/T emblem alongside glass black window moldings and side mirrors.

With all these features added, you can expect to pay around $51,715 MSRP for your fully loaded, top-of-the-line performance PHEV from Dodge.
