Muscle Car Shop Owner Buys Tesla Model S, Regrets That He Can’t Modify It
One muscle car shop owner has made a decent business modifying cars over recent years. His company has become very good at what they do. In fact, the company is so good that they are called out by celebrity Youtubers who need work on their Camaros, or Corvettes. So, it seems out of place that the owner of Complete Street Performance all of a sudden dropped a video on his recent purchase of a Tesla Model S P85. That’s right! He went electric, giving up gas stations for charging stations.
A company based on modifying V8 powerplants
Complete Street Performance is a company started by Andrew Zurick for the purposes of upgrading engines to produce more horsepower and better handling suspensions. Over time, he began to specialize in muscle cars. Gradually, the word got out, and other people started to take notice, including Youtube celebrities. For example, Nick Wright of the GuitarmageddonZL1 Youtube channel became a customer. Together they built two Camaros that were each considered beasts. More recently, Emelia Hartford and her channel, fittingly called EmiliaHartford, started to work with Complete Street Performance as well.
The shop owner buys and electric car
Mr. Zurick’s passion for his business catering to the internal combustion engine crowd is not just about moving cars through his shop. He also takes it to heart. That’s why his own personal cars are modified also. And, he has been known to take his V8 beasts to the track with special tuning. So, his own Youtube video, which was published just last night, caught many by surprise.
In a video titled, Muscle Car Shop Owner Buys Tesla – Does It Live Up To The Hype?, Mr. Zurick revealed that he had just bought a 2014 Tesla Model S P85. He had hopped on a flight to pick the car up and driven it through the night to bring it back to his Pennsylvania shop.
According to Mr. Zurich on his own Youtube video (above), the Tesla he bought is an older Model S that has had its battery and software ungraded by Tesla. So, in theory, his Model S is not really a P85 anymore. It is the equivalent of a P90D. In either case, the car is not powered by the V8 platforms he has been working on previously.
What to do with the Tesla Model S
The video is about him picking up his electric car. However, the description below the video gives an inclination of his direction with the purchase and future videos. It says,
“As you guys know, we work on muscle cars. But there is a lot of hype about the torque of Tesla. Decided to pony up an experience the Tesla muscle for myself. Does it deliver? Muscle vs Tesla? Or Tesla Muscle?”
Now the electric car purchase makes sense. Mr. Zurick is not giving up on the internal combustion engine. He is not pivoting his business away from what he has already done. Instead, he will be having his fun comparing his Tesla Model S against the cars he has already upgraded.
Regretting purchasing the Tesla Model S
Or, is he? At the 17:02 timestamp in his video, he acknowledges that he is torn. He likes it. But he is a modder. He likes to modify things. Indeed, that’s is the whole purpose of his company. However, Tesla modification is a challenge.
Will Complete Street Performance eventually provide electric car upgrades down the road? Will Mr. Zurick create another revenue stream for his business? Those are unknowns at this time. However, what is known is that the automotive enthusiast market is large. That market embraces just about any company that can offer reliable, faster performance or handling at reasonable prices. So, looking at the future and the growing acceptance of electrification is probably a smart business decision. In the meantime, he has a whole lot of V8 business to keep his wrenches turning.
