This morning, the Associated Press shared a video of Hurricane Milton churning in full view from the International Space Station. The storm is terrifyingly breathtaking from space.

At 8:30 am ET today, WMUR-TV reported Milton picking up speed to 155 mph. As the hurricane approaches Florida’s west coast, experts recategorized the storm as a Category 4 Hurricane, which is expected as these events make landfall. The event could very well become one of the most destructive storms on record.

NASA has a web page dedicated to its efforts related to Milton, including an explanation on how sea surface temps added to the storm’s powerful force.

You can watch live Milton coverage via 10 Tampa Bay’s YouTube stream:

As Milton’s outer bands cross into the state, authorities encourage residents to leave their possessions and get to safety. “Nothing is worth your life,” Mike Eddins of Florida Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) told 10 Tampa Bay at 9:30 am today. “We’ll continue to double and triple check to make sure people have gotten out of the area.”

Yesterday, CNN reported that about 1,500 Florida gas stations ran out of fuel as officials continue to beg Floridians to evacuate or face near-incomprehensible risk. As of this morning, about 1 in 4 Florida gas stations are out of fuel.

Milton travels at about 15 mph as of this writing. Experts predict the hurricane will make full landfall overnight Wednesday.
