Do You Need the 2023 Ram 1500 or Jeep Gladiator?
Stellantis currently has two enticing trucks known as the Ram 1500 and Jeep Gladiator, available. Both options have tons of awards and benefits to consider. But how do you decide between the 2023 Ram 1500 and 2023 Jeep Gladiator?
2023 Ram 1500 vs. 2023 Jeep Gladiator: Which truck is better?
Both the 2023 Ram 1500 and 2023 Jeep Gladiator have unique benefits to consider, but we will start with ride quality. The Gladiator is built on the Jeep Wrangler platform and is smaller than the Ram 1500.
Therefore, the Gladiator has a tighter turning radius. It could be easier to navigate through tight areas. But the Jeep Gladiator is also shaped like a box with a stiff suspension and beefy off-roading upgrades.
It has a louder interior and a rougher ride over the pavement than the Ram 1500. Also, the Ram 1500 still has the most comfortable ride quality available. Rivals are still trying to catch up.
If passenger space is a concern, the Gladiator has one of the largest backseats in its segment. It has more passenger space than the Toyota Tacoma. However, the Ram 1500 can fit people more comfortably with more cargo space.
But the Jeep Gladiator allows you to connect with nature. The doors and roof panels can be removed. It’s the only convertible truck.
Can the Gladiator or Ram 1500 tow more?
The 2023 Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,300 lbs. It can carry more cargo and pull larger trailers than the 2023 Jeep Gladiator. If you have a larger RV to tow, then consider the Ram.
But the Jeep Gladiator is still impressive. It can tow up to 7,700 lbs, giving it the best-in-class towing capacity. It can also carry a payload of up to 1,710. It’s well-equipped for hauling mid-size campers and adventure craft.
With the Ram, you can opt for the 5.0-foot 7.0-inch bed or the 6.0-foot 4.0-inch bed. The larger option provides 61.5 cubic feet of storage volume.
The Gladiator features a bed that’s 60.3 inches long and 44.8 inches wide. It provides 35.5 cubic feet of cargo space.
Both trucks have an available 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine. It provides 285 hp and 422 lb-ft of torque in the Gladiator and 260 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque with the Ram.
Is the Gladiator better for off-roading?
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator has a few off-roading advantages over the 2023 Ram 1500. It’s smaller, making it easier to fit on narrow trails. It has a unique two-speed transfer case with off-road gearing, Fox shocks, and a 4.10 rear axle ratio.
Both trucks feature factory-installed lifts, steel skid plates, tow hooks, an electronic locking rear differential, and modified fenders.
But the Ram 1500 also has an available adjustable air suspension, Bilstein adaptive dampers, upgraded engine cooling, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and a performance exhaust system. But these upgrades come with the expensive Ram 1500 TRX model.
The Ram 1500 and Jeep Gladiator are both excellent for work and play. While the Gladiator is more convenient, the Ram is more comfortable. It also has more passenger and cargo space. You can tow more with the Ram, but the Gladiator is more affordable for off-roading.
Picking between these two trucks comes down to your personal needs regarding space, comfort, work, and adventuring.
