Neuron Is An EV Truck Startup With Cool Renderings
There are more all-electric pickup trucks coming. Neuron EV is a start-up EV manufacturer located in Irvine, California. It recently revealed both a futuristic-looking electric pickup truck dubbed T/ONE and also an electric semi-truck called TORQ. Both have a family resemblance, somewhat like the Tesla semi-truck
The T/ONE looks like it could be built into various versions with a modular platform. With the driver’s cabin moved forward it allows more cargo space in a shorter length of chassis. Visibility is also increased as the driver is farther forward and also higher for better visibility.
Neuron Says Solutions Preserve Environment
While these are only proposals the company does spell out what it hopes to develop with the two different platforms. Neuron says, “These trucks were created to reduce waste and bring forth renewable solutions for the preservation of our environment.”
Since these are modular platforms the body panels are interchangeable. They can be removed and replaced easily. This aids replacement in case of an accident but also to easily change its appearance. Also, both chassis are scalable. So, the EV trucks can be shortened or lengthened depending on the requirements of the owner or situation.
As with all electric platforms, this one places the electric components and batteries at the lowest possible position. This lowers the center of gravity and increases usable space. Propulsion is said to be multi-source so there will be at least two electric motors, maybe more. A removable bed cover is also a solar panel.
Neuron Wants To Innovate Towards On-Demand Recharging
Neuron says its design is “in line with Neuron’s practical solution to renewable energy. That is to adapt to nature’s availability and innovate towards an on-demand recharging infrastructure.”
The driver would be given a 360-degree view of his surrounding environment from a wireless camera system. The system feeds the visual data into a screen in the driver’s cockpit. Personal devices can be plugged into the EV trucks to replace all of the control knobs and switches. They say, “This clutter-free and open system is compatible with the latest gadgets and internet solutions.”
Medium Duty and Micro Trucks, Busses and More
Besides the pickup and semi-truck, Neuron has also released artist concepts of a medium-duty truck, a micro truck, electric bus, and autonomous vehicles.
While the illustrations look great it would be beneficial for Neuron to possibly show some actual development. Possibly a chassis being built or tested, or early prototype. Also, it would be great if it was able to indicate how much money and from whom it was able to pull private equity funding.
More Concrete Info Would Be Great
Not to be critical but these suggestions would give a better indication as to how serious this venture is. Without anything to go on but renderings it looks like a mission statement and proposals from the earliest stages of a company’s beginnings. Some call it vaporware.
We hope to see more concrete examples of what it has created up to this point, where it anticipates production to take place, and when.
