If you haven’t seen the recently redesigned Honda SUV, get ready for a real treat. The fact that the press photos showcasing the 2023 Honda Pilot redesign make it look like a giant blueberry is just an added benefit. Don’t be fooled by the exclusive Diffused Sky Blue paint; this sport utility vehicle is rugged and ready for adventure. The Honda Pilot sales numbers are all the proof needed.

Did the Honda Pilot change for 2023?

Honda redesigned the Pilot for 2023 in a big way. The ultimate family SUV has a more rugged look and comfortable seats for everyone. The fourth-generation Pilot is available in six trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, and Elite. On top of that, the new 2023 Honda Pilot has two-wheel drive, or Honda’s i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system as an option.

Honda’s new light-truck architecture gives the Pilot a more extended wheelbase and wider tracks. It also received a brand-new chassis and a stiffer body. This new rigid platform has a more refined ride and more comfort on the daily drive.

One of the most significant changes is the Pilot TrailSport, a new off-road capable version designed for weekend fun or just muddy parking lots. This version has an off-road-tuned suspension, more ground clearance, upgraded tires, and enhanced all-wheel drive.

Sales for the 2023 Honda Pilot spiked in July

According to sales data on GoodCarBadCar, the 2023 Honda Pilot sold 10,483 units in March. Like most automakers, numbers were not great throughout 2022, with the Pilot selling fewer than 10,000 vehicles except for July. Semiconductor chip shortages and other issues led to lower production, which translates to lower sales.

As a brand, Honda sold 103,177 vehicles in March, the highest number since July of 2021. There is a noticeable jump between February and March, thanks to the new 2023 Pilot, Accord, and CR-V models hitting the pavement. Honda’s CR-V saw 31,084 units moved in March of this year, which also aided the automaker in record sales.

Honda has some impressive SUVs on the market for 2023, and things are looking up for the brand. Now that many of the semiconductor chip shortages are under control, automakers can focus on ramping up production to meet demand. The 2023 Honda Pilot redesign is just the start.

Thanks to the Honda Sensing safety suite, all trim levels get plenty of standard safety, and driver assistance features. These include Honda’s Collision Mitigation Braking System, a Road Departure Mitigation System, and a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera. Adaptive Cruise Control also comes on all trim levels. For those who want more safety, the EX-L has Blind Spot Information w/Cross Traffic Monitor, Parking Sensors, and a five-mode drive system for any terrain you might encounter.

It looks like Honda made some solid choices with the 2023 Pilot redesign, and hopefully, this trend will keep up for April.
