New Audi Recall Leaves SUV Owners Stressing
We know Audi for their luxury cars and SUVs, and over the past decades, they’ve been the obvious answer for everything from family vehicles like the Audi Q5 to sports cars like the Audi R8. Unlike some other luxury brands, we expect Audi to be somewhat reliable, especially when you’re spending a ton of money to buy one brand new. That’s part of the reason why Q7 owners are feeling a little stressed over the newest recall, and we can’t really blame them.
Who does the recall affect?
The recall will affect as many as reported 95,000 vehicles made by Audi. The specific vehicle in question is Audi A7, model years 2018 through 2020. Even if you have one of these cars doesn’t mean you are necessarily affected by the recall directly. The fault is present in vehicles manufactured in late July 2017 through early March of 2020. The best way to check if your vehicle is under recall is to call the NHTSA safety hotline or the manufacturer’s recall portal.

How dangerous is the recall?
Recalls, more often than not, sound much scarier than they actually are. For many recalls you are usually safe to continue driving until you are able to make an appointment with the dealership, but it is always safer to make the first available appointment. This recall in particular affects the cars safety in case of an accident, but doesn’t affect normal driving and won’t cause a crash if it isn’t resolved immediately.
What the Audi recall is
The recall itself has to do with a piece of the car’s interior trim, which reportedly doesn’t provide a sufficient amount of padding in case you were to get in a car accident. The lack of padding could cause excessive head injury in case of an accident, but owners can take comfort in knowing that Audi is offering to replace the trim piece in question free of charge.
The potential for a head injury in case of an accident sounds scary, but as long as owners are diligent about having the recall serviced in a timely manner the recall isn’t that severe. In fact, in way of historic disasters of recalls, this doesn’t even touch the surface, and while it may be one more thing for car owners to stress about, the recall work is relatively quick and completely covered by the manufacturer.
