New Backwoods Camper Shell Adds a King Size Bed to Your 2-Door Jeep Wrangler
King size bed and Jeep Wrangler really aren’t two things we ever thought we’d say in the same sentence. However, the folks at Backwoods Camper Co. have cracked the code with this new camper shell. Made using lightweight fiberglass over a foam core, this bolt-on camper shell can transform a two-door Jeep Wrangler into a full overlanding rig. Excuse me while I pick up my jaw up off the floor.
Can you turn a Jeep Wrangler into an overland camper?
Yes, you can. Thanks to the good people at Backwoods Camper Co., even two-door Jeep Wranglers can now transform into a camper. The shockingly large camper shell attaches to the rear of a Wrangler like a backpack.
According to Motor1, despite its kingly size, the camper shell weighs only 500 lbs, allowing it to mount to a roof rack and trailer hitch mount. Although its compatibility with Wranglers is the most noteworthy part, the camper shell can also mount to any other SUV with the proper roof and trailer mounting requirements.
How much room does the Backwoods Camper shell have?
As we mentioned earlier, somehow, this camper shell houses a California King bed (mattress included) in a cab-over layout. The massive bedroom includes windows, skylights, and storage.
Moving on from the bedroom, the 72-in wide and 84-in tall camper offers provision for an optional kitchenette over the countertop, as well as storage compartments. You can even add a small bathroom, but don’t expect much space here. Considering how much a normal Jeep Wrangler has for a bathroom, I’d call this a serious improvement.

The Backwoods camper base model starts at only $15,525. Apart from the previously mentioned features, you’ll also get LED lighting within the camper and exterior light powered by a 12V battery, a customizable receiver hitch rack, two camper jacks with extendable support legs, and a locking door with a screen.
