New Brabus 800 Mercedes-Maybach GLS Revealed With Luxury Orange Interior
The new Brabus 800 Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV was revealed this week, the newest luxury SUV in the lineup. The Brabus 800 is based on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 but with even more luxurious elements inside and out. What has Brabus done to make the SUV more special?
The Brabus 800 Mercedes-Maybach GLS is “the spirit of modern luxury.”
The luxury SUV market is a big seller for automakers these days. The new Brabus 800 Mercedes-Maybach GLS is no exception to that. With 800 hp and a top speed of 186 mph, the Brabus 800 is pretty insane. The automaker calls it the spirit of modern luxury, and the interior is one of the major selling points.
“It is the definitive Luxury SUV, exuding confident elegance, a next-level driving experience and breathtaking looks. It is the masterclass of passionate artisanship defined by exclusivity and individuality.”
Brabus
Brabus wants the SUV to be a home away from home, so the interior is fully equipped and bespoke. The Masterpiece interior offers a first-class ride no matter where you sit. While the exterior is modern and sophisticated, the interior takes some liberties.
The automaker made the interior of Leonis-Orange leather. It uses BRABUS Dual Cube quilting applied on the seats, trim elements, and footwells. The seats are memory-style with ventilation and heating. Brabus integrated carbon elements into the panels, doors, and dashboard.
What other elements are a part of the Brabus 800 design?
The Brabus 800 comes with a 4L twin-turbo V8 engine with 800 hp. The engine has a nine-speed automatic transmission, but the driver can use manual or automatic shifting. The new BRABUS exhaust system offers actively controlled valves for a “tasteful and urbane sound experience.” Drivers can switch between Sport mode, which provides a louder, more “throaty” V8 sound, or a Coming Home mode for quiet.
The luxury SUV has 24-inch BRABUS Monoblock M “PLATINUM EDITION” forged wheels. A new shadow chrome color finishes the reels, reinforcing strength and durability. Drivers can lower the suspension by 25 millimeters through a suspension module. However, have no fear if orange isn’t your color. Since the Brabus 800 is customizable, Brabus can make the interior upholstery and trim another desired color.
It offers a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and 950 nm torque. The Brabus 800 gets terrible fuel economy, but that’s almost to be expected from such a high-horsepower SUV.
This Mercedes-Maybach is no regular GLS.
The price of the Mercedes GLS is still relatively high, starting at $76,000. The AMG GLS 63 SUV jumps up to $132,100. From there, the Mercedes-Maybach version starts at around $160,000. The price of the Brabus 800 Mercedes Maybach GLS will likely double that, if not more. If the buyer wants to customize the vehicle further, the cost would depend on that.
There is no release date yet, but Brabus has been working hard on a new lineup of vehicles. There is a chance buyers will see this luxury SUV sometime in 2022, but there’s no guarantee how many will be made. Before next year, keep your eye on the brand for other vehicle releases, like the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition.
