Many vehicles built in other countries don’t come to the U.S. market at all. Often, they’re exclusive to another country’s market, like China, for example. That’s the case with the Buick Envista, a new crossover from the General Motors automaker. However, now the crossover is reportedly making its way to North America. A new Buick crossover is coming to the U.S.

The new Buick crossover coming to the U.S. is called the Envista. According to Motor1, Buick products developed and currently produced in China will soon be available in North America. Recently, a high-ranking executive with the company confirmed the rumors to be true. When speaking during the GM Investor Day, Mark Reuss, president of Buick, said Buick has plans to bring the new Envista crossover to the U.S. This news is surprising as the new model was just revealed this past summer with a new design, combustion power, and equipment compared with other Buicks. General Motors is reportedly preparing to launch the Envista in the U.S. sooner than later.

“It’s already in production in China, paying forward the Buick design off the Wildcat. A beautiful vehicle, getting ready for the U.S. here as well, just a beautiful addition to the Buick lineup,” Reuss said. No other details are available about the arrival date, but information on the production version of the Envista in China is available.

What is the Buick Envista?

Assuming it is roughly the same when it arrives in North America, here’s what you’re getting with the new Buick crossover: In China, the Envista uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an output of 181 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds. Although you won’t win many races in the Envista, these numbers are surprisingly good for a small crossover. Additionally, the four-cylinder engine is paired with a CVT using front-wheel drive. Buick has also given details about fuel economy, which it says will be 6.52 liters per 100 kilometers or 36 miles per gallon.

For size, the Envista fits into the Buick lineup above the Encore GX. It’s 182.6 inches long and 71.5 inches wide. With a wheelbase of 106.3 inches, the Envista offers a spacious interior cabin. Lastly, the equipment we know about is a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Motor1 also mentioned it uses the Baidu navigation system in China, which is expected to convert to the Buick North American infotainment software instead when it comes to the U.S.

A new Buick crossover

In conclusion, a brand new Buick crossover is coming to the automaker’s lineup in the U.S. For the first time, the Buick Envista will be available in America. The new model was unveiled in China not too long ago and entered production there. More often than not, it takes much longer for a model to come to the U.S. from China (or it never happens). That’s why it’s so surprising that the president of Buick all but directly confirmed the rumors to be true. Sometime in the next year or so, we expect to hear a formal announcement about General Motors’ plan to bring the new Envista crossover to North America.
