Years after the last Chrysler 300 SRT8 finished its production run, Stellantis decided the public needed another fire-breathing V8-powered version of Chrysler’s beloved sedan. However, instead of stopping at the optional 5.7L Hemi V8 in previous 300s, the marque went bigger and badder for its swan song sedan. Here’s what you should know about the new Chrysler 300C and its mighty V8. 

Do they still make a 300C?

Chrysler still makes a 300, but not until recently did they announce the return of the 300C. Furthermore, the latest variations look a lot like the older models; many fans find them dated due to that fact. After all, Chrysler has been producing its flagship affordable luxury sedan for 18 years. Alongside the Dodge Charger, it has been a staple in the modern American sedan landscape. 

Is the 2023 Chrysler 300C getting a redesign?

The reborn 2023 Chrysler 300C looks very similar to the latest 2022 Chrysler 300, save for a few differences. For instance, the new 300C features carbon fiber accents, bright red Brembo brake calipers, black exhaust tips, and its own tri-colored badge commemorating the legacy of the 300. However, at a glance or from a distance, it bares a stark resemblance to a 300S. 

What engine is in the new 2023 Chrysler 300C?

Like Dodge’s campaign to send off the muscle-bound Challenger and Charger, Stellantis and Chrysler are making this next model year a big one. The 2023 Chrysler 300C packs a naturally aspirated 6.4L Hemi V8 engine. Moreover, it’s more powerful than the 6.4L V8s of the long-discontinued 300 SRT8s of 2014 and earlier. According to TrueCar, those later SRT8 models pack 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. 

However, the 2023 300C squeezes 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque out of its 6.4L powerplant. The result of that extra power is a posh Chrysler sedan capable of a 4.3-second sprint to 60 mph. Also, Stellantis says the V8 300C will smash a quarter-mile run in just 12.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 160 mph. Not bad for a big heavy sedan devoid of a supercharger. 

Is this the last 300? 

The powerplant isn’t just celebration-worthy; it’s a commemorative move. The new 2023 Chrysler 300C will be the last car of its kind for the model namesake. It’s a bittersweet affair; the original 300 debuted in 1955, marking a nearly 70-year span on and off. Of course, the 300 that most drivers are associated with is the 2005 and newer vehicle. 

However, after an 18-year run, Chrysler is discontinuing the modern 300. Still, we might see the 300 badge return in a hybrid or electric platform like Dodge’s latest electric muscle car concept, the Charger Daytona SRT EV. 

How expensive is the new 300C?

The new Chrysler 300C will be limited to 2,000 units, making it a collectible swan song for the model’s recent lineage. Moreover, Car and Driver says the new V8-powered sedan will start at $56,595. That may seem like an attractive price, but given the importance of the car to the Chrysler brand and the limited numbers, it’s likely to sell for well above the starting price and appreciate in value. 

Still, between the last 300C and the Last Call model Dodge Chargers and Challengers, Stellantis is fully committed to ending the internal combustion engine (ICE) era of their cars.
