The New Dodge Charger Coupe and Sedan Will Smoke the Hellcat Redeye
The new 2024 Dodge Charger is here. We knew it was coming, but Dodge and its CEO, Tim Kuniskis, still managed to surprise some folks with a few developments. Chief among these, the new Charger will offer a four-door sedan hatch alongside the coupe. That, and the inline-six-powered Charger Sixpack will produce 550 horsepower. More expectedly, the EV-powered Chargers are sure to outrun their predecessors, like the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

In a ten-and-a-half-minute unveiling, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis debuted the new Dodge Charger. It’s the latest of the Charger nameplates, and the very first to pack a fully electric platform.
We get the Superbee badge back, along with a ton of CGI (in the announcement) and a prominently displayed Fratzog logo. After a cheeky stop-on-a-dime shot, Kuniskis emerges from his time-machine Charger to prompt the Dodge brothers. “Do you want to keep working for the system, or take down the system?”
At a glance, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona works in more rounded design language than the first Daytona SRT EV Concept. Moreover, I must admit, that the new Charger is a substantial improvement over the outgoing LD-platform sedan. Kuniskis claims the new Charger is making strides to avoid looking like a “battery-electric melted jellybean.”
Most surprisingly, Dodge will offer the Charger as a four-door sedan with “segment-leading cargo volume” courtesy of a liftback rear-end. This comes as a bit of a shock (no pun intended), as fans expected a two-door coupe to be the only option.
However, as fans expected, the new Charger is available with several EV options: a 340-kW R/T, a 440-kW Scat Pack, and an incipient 800-kW Banshee. The Banshee gets an all-new badge, although we’ll have to wait for exact horsepower figures. All-wheel drive is part of the mix for the first time, and we expect the Scat Pack and Banshee to put down scorching acceleration figures.
Kuniskis claims the new Scat Pack will outrun the now-discontinued SRT Hellcat Redeye. Unsurprising, as the 400-volt Scat Pack Charger Daytona (a mouthful, I know) will put out over 670 horsepower. That’s on par with the fiendishly old-school Corvette Z06.
Better yet, the 2025 Dodge Charger will offer the brand’s Hurrican twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder mill. Power output is a reported 420 for the standard spec and 550 for the H.O. (High-Output) model. Sadly, earlier rumors of an all-new HEMI V8 were exaggerated. Still, the new Dodge Charger arrives with an all-new look and lease on high-voltage life.
