New Ford and Hyundai Electric Pickup Truck Sneak Peek
The time of pickup trucks is now! The time of electric pickup trucks is also now, including some interesting new options from Ford, Hyundai, and Lordstown Motors.
While Ford is adding an electric pickup truck to the lineup, Hyundai is also working behind the scenes on a pickup too. The Endurance truck by Lordstown is totally new and interesting, but how will it do on the current market?
A new Ford F-150 electric pickup truck
The new Ford F-150 Electric is still a bit of a mystery. U.S. News says that a battery-electric version of the most popular pickup truck is on the way. It was supposed to hit the market in 2023 but might come as early as next year now.
Ford claims the electric F-150 will be more powerful than the current F-150, which gets 430 hp. So we can expect a lot from the electric version. This truck is rumored to be assembled in the new Rouge Electric Vehicle plant in Michigan.
We don’t know pricing or any specs yet, but we can bet it will be good when it arrives.
The mysterious 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz
A Hyundai pickup truck, you say? We do say—sort of. The Santa Cruz pickup truck was first announced back in 2015 and then disappeared into the shadows. Then in 2019, Hyundai announced the company would produce the truck in Alabama. After that, we heard nothing.
U.S. News notes that the truck has an extended cab design and a smaller bed, similar to a small Honda Ridgeline. Some recent spy shots indicate a four-door design with a crew cab. Hopefully, in the time of pickup trucks, Hyundai is working hard behinds the scenes.
A new trim: 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor
The new 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor comes complete with cool strips on the side and 32-inch all-terrain tires. The Ford Ranger is a favorite among drivers, and this new trim looks like it will not disappoint.
U.S. News notes that the Ranger Tremor comes with 17-inch wheels and steps for all four doors. It has recovery hooks, suede-insert seats, and a front bash plate. Underbody skid plates help protect the truck while off-roading.
An electronic terrain management program allows modifications to the truck for varying conditions. This package will add $4,290 to the price of the base model, $24,820.
Lordstown Motors Endurance: a new electric pickup truck
And on the other end of things, a new truck from a new brand. The Lordstown Motors Endurance truck looks like it is from the future. The truck will start at just over $52,500. It is slated to arrive toward the end of this year with an estimated 600 hp.
This truck has some interesting features like independent motors at each wheel hub. This will require fewer parts to propel the truck forward and will “maximize traction while reducing maintenance costs.”
The Endurance is expected to get 250 miles on a single charge and have 120-volt outlets to power tools.
