The Forza franchise came out swinging during this year’s Summer Game Fest. During the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, not only did the new Hot Wheels expansion for Forza Horizon 5 get announced but so did a brand new Forza Motorsport, one of the best racing franchises ever. Coming to Xbox consoles and PC, this entry is the follow-up to Forza Motorsport 7, which came out five years ago in 2017. The brand-new Forza Motorsport release date isn’t official, but we do have a time period of Spring 2023. It will feature new tracks as well as returning ones, improved physics, and much more.

According to Auto Evolution, a new Forza Motorsport game is coming in Spring 2023. During the Xbox and Bethesda showcase on Sunday, as part of Summer Game Fest, a new entry in the Forza Motorsport series was announced. Aptly named Forza Motorsport, the new game showed off wildly impressive and dynamic graphics. The new trailer, which used the in-game engine, showed dynamic weather and time of day changes, along with the stunning detail of the landscapes.

Developers explained that the increased detail and beautiful landscapes help improve immersion for players. The best part of these games is racing and feeling like you’re the one inside the car. Even running on Xbox Series X, it isn’t easy to differentiate the new Forza Motorsport from real life. The new game is built from the ground up for next-gen hardware, including overhauled physics. Real-time ray tracing and advanced car damage add a lot to the series.

New and returning tracks

Forza Motorsport adds immersion and realism with real time raytracing, improved physics, a dynamic weather system, and more.

To show off the new physics, weather, and other graphical improvements, Turn 10 Studios used a fan-favorite returning track, Maple Valley. However, that isn’t the only track returning from old titles. In addition, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca Raceway will return to Forza Motorsport. Next, a brand new South African track called Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit will debut in the new game, as will Circuit Hakone, a high-speed track set in Japan.

Forza Motorsport: New features

In addition to new physics, dynamic weather, dynamic time of day changes, and more, Forza Motorsport has other new features. Firstly, ambient temperatures, along with the time of day and weather, change how your car performs. For example, the track temperature will affect the vehicle’s grip, as will weather with tire traction. In short, if the road would be slippery or more challenging to turn on at high speeds, it will be the same way in-game.

That’s not the only thing that’s new for this game. Forza Motorsport’s entire driving experience has been overhauled to take advantage of the power of the next-gen Xbox Series X console and improved PC hardware on which it will run. Changes include a 48 times improvement in the fidelity of the physics simulation. Other player-requested features include tire and fuel management, multiple tire compounds, and in-depth car building.

Turn 10 Studios couldn’t say enough about the new car damage system. In the new game, car damage is reproduced down to the individual scratches on the bodywork. Additionally, the game considers the damage’s direction and how it would affect the car. For example, how the paint peels away at exposed and raised edges, wheel abrasions, and even dirt build-up are different based on how you drive.

Forza Motorsport release date

Forza Motorsport doesn’t have an official release date yet. However, Turn 10 Studios and Microsoft did give us an idea of when to expect it. Currently, we know it will be available in Spring 2023 for Xbox consoles and PC. Additionally, the new game will come to Xbox Game Pass on day one.
