New Ghostbusters Movie Features Ghost-Catching Ecto-C Motorcycle
Everyone’s favorite jumpsuit-clad apparition-catchers are back at it again. The new Ghostbusters movie pits most of the original team, a new lineup of heroes, and the instantly recognizable “Ecto-1” Cadillac against the frigid forces of evil. However, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” has another automotive champion: a ghost-catching motorcycle and sidecar combination called “Ecto-C.”
‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ featured a companion for Ecto-1: a ghost-catching motorcycle and sidecar called ‘Ecto-C’
Movie fans worldwide would recognize the land-yacht Cadillac and not-quite-right siren anywhere. That’s right, we’re talking about Ecto-1, or the “Ectomobile” from the Ghostbusters franchise. In the new Ghostbusters movie, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the team has another vehicular option: a motorcycle sidecar combination called “Ecto-C”
The three-wheeled culprit appears to be an old Harley-Davidson Police FLP with a sidecar. It’s a logical companion for Ecto-1. Moreover, it continues the trend of emergency vehicles in the Ghostbusters franchise. Ecto-1 is an old Cadillac ambulance, and Ecto-C is an old police bike. Fitting. Expectedly, Ecto-C conceals the tools of the trade for the team. Chief among these, the sidecar opens up to allow access to a portable proton pack for ghost-busting.
We have to assume the “C” in Ecto-C stands for “cycle.” However, it could be a reference to the time when the gluttonous ghosty himself, Slimer, took over Hi-C beverages in the late 1980s. We’ll leave the old police bike up to interpretation. However, fans are saying the fashion in which the sidecar opens up is a reference to the Ecto-2 helicopter from the namesake comic book series.
Of course, it’s not the first time that a ghost-catching New Yorker hit the streets on a motorcycle. Well, sort of. Chris Hemsworth played a clueless character named Kevin in the 2016 film “Ghostbusters.” Though it’s non-canonical with the current storyline, it featured the “Thor” star on a smoke-spewing two-stroke AMF Harley-Davidson SX250. A random throwback, indeed. Unfortunately, the bike’s screen time was limited.
