It’s not hard for a Lamborghini to look aggressive. However, one would think that it would be difficult to make one look more aggressive than some already do. For example, the Huracan Evo and STO both look so menacing that they could scare small children. However, the iconic Italian supercar manufacturer has taken it one step further with the latest Huracan release.

This is the new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2

Lamborghini recently put out a press release announcing the arrival of this menacing car.

Right off the bat, the aero features of this car stand out as unbelievably aggressive. The massive rear wing looks like it could generate enough downforce to hold down a struggling elephant. Additionally, Lamborghini left exposed carbon on the front splitter and rear diffuser. Finally, the most outstanding feature is undoubtedly the roof scoop from the Huracan STO, on which this car is based.

It’s got some trick tech, too. The Huracan GT3 EVO2 has 10 individual throttle bodies (ITBs) that are all electronically controlled for ultimate throttle response. Additionally, the entire system is held on with only four bolts, making rapidly servicing the intake components a breeze.

More trick tech comes in the form of the Huracan GT3 EVO2’s advanced antilock braking and traction control systems that aid the driver without interrupting performance driving. According to Lamborghini, these systems make the car easy to control in low-grip conditions like a wet track “even by gentlemen drivers,” whatever that means.

Finally, Lamborghini made improvements to the roll cage by adding two rear pillars and carbon-kevlar side panels. These side panels add rigidity to the doors, bringing it into spec for the 2022 FIA standards. Additionally, the plexiglass windows are mated to the carbon door panels with ring screws for added rigidity, too.

If that last paragraph didn’t give it away, there is one small detail. It’s a race car. You can’t drive it on the road.

The GT3 EVO2 replaces the Huracan GT3 EVO

“The new Huracán GT3 EVO2 is not simply an evolution of the current car. It’s a new project that reinforces the technological transfer between Lamborghini’s motorsport division and the company and inherits two difficult tasks: to prove as successful as the previous generations of Huracán GT3, which have won more than 40 international titles in six seasons, and to match its commercial success by helping to reach the target of 500 Huracán racing cars since 2015,” said Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Head of Motorsport.

Perhaps the coolest part of this upgrade is that Lamborghini is making “evolution kits.” This means that teams already racing a Huracan GT3 EVO can upgrade their cars to GT3 EVO2 specs without having to purchase the entire car. That seems like a pretty significant advantage, considering MotorTrend says the GT3 EVO in 2019 was $525,000. Though the Evolution kit is not likely cheap, it’s probably a whole lot cheaper than buying another car!

Lamborghini expects to debut the Huracan GT3 EVO2 on track at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona race. It will be as awesome to see and hear these monsters on track as it is to see a Huracan STO on the road!
