The New Mazda CX-30 Could Provide Crucial Solutions
Big things are happening for the new Mazda CX-30. As the 2022 Mazda CX-30 replaces the Mazda 3, it could incorporate a few significant upgrades to improve its performance. The 2023 model could be even better.
The new Mazda CX-30 will change the game
The Mazda CX-30 will follow the tracks of the upcoming 2022 Mazda CX-50. We will get to see the CX-50 in November when it makes its debut at the Los Angeles Auto show. We may catch a glimpse of the new CX-70 and CX-90 models as well.
These Mazda SUVs are expected to be wider and longer to provide more cargo and passenger space. This will allow more families to fit comfortably as one common complaint involves the backseats being too small.
Along with a new LED headlight design and taillights, these SUVs could gain a new grille design and larger tires. The 2023 CX-30 will ride on Mazda’s new longitudinal architecture. The longer platform could provide a longer wheelbase for a smoother ride.
The platform supports rear-real drive, which is a plus for sporty rides. It can also incorporate optional all-wheel drive. AWD is expected to come standard with the CX-30. Although, this could be disappointing to those looking to save with front-wheel drive.
What’s new for the 2022 CX-30?
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 won’t have the new platform. But it will have a few suspension upgrades. Increased frame rigidity and updates to the dampers on the front strut and multi-link rear suspension will reduce road noise and increase ride comfort.
Mazda says the six-speed automatic transmission will be smoother and more responsive. But when we tested this ride, we didn’t have any complaints about its performance. We see how the new model feels, though.
It could gain a refreshed look with new LED headlights and a new grille design. This will help it match the new CX-50. The Turbo Signature models may include larger tires and luxurious interior upgrades.
The CX-30 will probably carry both of its engine options over. The standard 2.5-liter inline-four engine provides 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. The 2.5-liter turbo-four generates 277 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.
What’s coming for the 2023 Mazda CX-30?
Once we see the CX-50, we can gather more clues about the 2023 Mazda CX-30. Along with sharing a new platform, the SUVs could share new engine options. Two ned inline-six engines have been mentioned.
The Skyactiv diesel engine will be interesting, especially if it makes it to the United States. There’s also the Skyactiv-X powertrain that’s paired with a 48-volt hybrid system. A plug-in hybrid option is in the mix too.
We hope that the CX-30 has more power if it goes electric. The Mazda MX-30 is limited to California and only has a range of 100 miles. However, we are excited for Mazda SUVs to have a better fuel economy.
We should learn more about Mazda’s plans soon. As we keep digging for clues, we will keep you updated. The Los Angeles Auto Show is only a few weeks away!
