There’s a new Ford F-150 on the way. Soon, we will feast our eyes on this truck’s midcycle refresh. However, a new face, revamped interior, and advanced tech aren’t the only changes in the works. The 2024 Ford F-150 Lobo is something new to get excited about.
What is the 2024 Ford F-150 Lobo?
The 2024 Ford F-150 Lobo could be added to the lineup as the mid-cycle refresh debuts during the Detroit Auto Show in September. We’re only days away from seeing the new model and learning about all of its specs.
While the Lobo name isn’t new to Ford, it will be new to the current lineup in America. The name has been used in Mexico since 1990. It’s a Spanish word that translates to ‘wolf.’ The F-150 Lobo in Mexico is the same as the F-150 XL in America.
But the American Ford Lobo truck is expected to be a brand new beast. It could have a lowered suspension and other racing upgrades to serve as an affordable performance variant. It could be affordable, like the economical Ford F-150 Rattler off-roading variant.
The Ford Maverick Lobo also has a new trademark and that tracks. Rumors about a racing-oriented trim like the Maverick ST have been floating around for years. The Maverick Lobo might match the much larger F-150 racing model.
The Lobo trim was first adopted to attract younger truck buyers, and it must be successful if it’s still in use. Reportedly, the trim will provide a sinister and aggressive appearance.
2024 F-150: What’s new?
We’re still waiting to learn more about the 2024 Ford F-150 Lobo and the rest of the lineup. With a midcycle refresh, it’s safe to expect a new headlight design, a revised grille, unique bumper shapes, new taillights, special edition paint colors, and new wheel designs.
A few spy shots have displayed the F-150 with updated LED lights. They are split into different sections for a more confident style.
Ford CEO Jim Farley shared that the 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid is particularly important. Ford plans to push hybrid vehicles instead of jumping straight to electrification.
It’s unclear if there will be a new Ford F-150 hybrid model or if improvements will be made to the existing F-150 PowerBoost trim.
The F-150 Hybrid is powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s paired with an electric motor and a battery pack to generate 470 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. It gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and on the highway.
The new F-150 models could have more power or a better fuel economy, but engine changes and upgrades aren’t typical for a mid-cycle refresh.
How much will the 2024 F-150 cost?
The price of the 2024 Ford F-150 could increase by a few thousand bucks to cover the costs of upgraded tech and enhanced style. But the 2024 Ford F-150 Lobo could be on the more affordable side of things.
Currently, the 2023 F-150 has an MSRP of $34,585. The $1,995 destination fee and dealership markups aren’t included. Also, the top-spec F-150 Limited trim takes the price up to $84,910. There are nine different trims and seven different powertrain options to meet various needs.
