For anyone with fat stacks of cash and an urge to join the RV life, Newmar makes the perfect motorhome. This Class A diesel RV brims with posh features and carries a $1.3 million price tag. Here’s a look at the Newmar King Aire and what you get in one of the fanciest campers out there.

The Newmar King Aire’s exterior and powertrain

Newmar bills the 2021 King Aire as a luxury motor coach, and it certainly exudes luxury, beginning with a beautifully painted exterior. It features two side awnings with wind sensors and LED lights. An outdoor entertainment system provides a TV for campers to watch outside. And a pull-out fridge/freezer adds to the outdoor entertainment setup. The exterior also boasts two baggage areas with power slide trays. According to Newmar, optional packages include a patio hammock and solar panels. Keyless entry and a new camera monitoring system help protect the King Aire when parked.

As for the powertrain, this 45-footer rests on Newmar’s Spartan K3 chassis, allowing for a shorter turning radius. The diesel engine harnesses 605 hp and 1,950 lb-ft of torque. There are also two lithium-ion power packs with two inverters and a 12.5 KW generator to provide power.

The Newmar King Aire’s luxe interior

The 2021 Newmar King Aire offers three floor plans and lots of options. In the front, Italian full-grain leather hugs the driver’s and passenger’s seats. They’re heated and cooled and have a massage feature. Leather covers the dashboard too. And memory features retain multi-person settings for the steering column, gas and brake pedals, and side mirrors.

The living space also features furniture wrapped in the same Italian leather. A chaise longue and a tri-fold sofa sit in the living room. Longer furniture is available, as is theater seating with massage and heating. The theater seats also have reading lights and lighted cup holders. A living-room fireplace with storage behind it comes standard, as does a central vacuum system. Finishes include luxe fabrics, heated porcelain tile flooring, an accent wall, and a decorative ceiling. The interior ceiling height is a generous 85.5 inches, just over seven feet.

The Newmar King Aire’s galley kitchen sports quartz countertops and a marble backsplash. Handmade European-style solid-hardwood cabinets boast a glossy finish and soft-close doors. There’s also a roomy farmhouse sink and a large Viking refrigerator. Other electric appliances include a Wolf induction cooktop, a dishwasher, and a 30-inch convection microwave. Options include a pull-out pantry.

A sliding door opens to the master suite. The king-size mattress with a leather-wrapped base comes topped with a goose-down comforter. An additional TV set, Blu-ray player, and Bose Soundbar await. You can also find the residential-size washer and dryer here. A fireplace in the bedroom is optional. A 50-by-34-inch tiled shower is included in the master suite in two of the layout options. There’s also a living room half-bath.

Technology and safety features

The Newmar King Aire packs plenty of technology and safety features too. Both the driver and front-seat passenger get navigation monitors. There are also wireless charging pads for the front seats and a custom-tuned Harman Infinity audio system. A Samsung tablet controls the lights, electronics, window shades, and other features. And three heat-pump central air conditioners come with a remote-controlled thermostat.

The living room includes an ultra-high-definition 55-inch 8K LED Samsung TV, a Sony Blu-ray player, and a Bluetooth-compatible Bose SoundTouch Soundbar. There’s also a second TV in the living room, plus the TVs in the bedroom and outside. A Wi-Fi package comes standard, but the satellite dish is optional.

The King Aire’s advanced safety features include lane departure warning, collision mitigation technology, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a 360-degree camera system.

The Newmar King Aire diesel RV’s opulence is obvious, but there are other RVs out there with even bigger price tags and wilder features. Swiss manufacturer Marchi Mobile tricked out its $3 million eleMMent Palazzo Superior motorhome with a rooftop terrace. And the push of a button creates a fenced deck with built-in furniture and in-floor heating. The $2.5 million Furrion Elysium is still a concept vehicle, but it includes a rooftop helipad, a helicopter, and a hot tub, Love Property reports.

The 2021 Newmar King Aire starts at $1,321,680. With options, the cost only rises from there. This motor coach can provide an exquisite RV experience, but it’s certainly more expensive than most permanent homes.
