The fuel economy of some thirsty models is nightmare fuel for those who hate spending big bucks at the pump. These new 2023 SUVs have notoriously scary gas mileage.

The 2023 Nissan Armada’s fuel economy isn’t for everyone
It’s important to note that some drivers have come to terms with historically high gas prices. That being said, plenty of consumers head for the hills when they get wind of a vehicle’s poor fuel efficiency. The new 2023 SUV’s fuel economy leaves much to be desired for many drivers.

With a tank size of 26.0 gallons, the Armada can travel for roughly 403 miles on a full tank of gas. That’s not too shabby in terms of driving distance, but the Armada’s less than 16 miles per gallon combined fuel economy still makes it one of the least efficient SUVs on the market. A large tank saves it to a degree, but the full-size SUV’s estimated gas mileage is still enough to deter plenty of potential buyers.
Some of the 2023 Nissan Armada’s strengths include its high maximum towing capacity (8,500 lbs) and smooth ride quality. It’s a decent full-size SUV, but it isn’t a leader in its segment, and fuel economy is part of why many consumers go for its rivals instead.
Toyota’s full-size SUV remains thirsty after a redesign
Japanese automaker Toyota has redesigned several nameplates. The Sequoia was desperately due for a redesign. Now, it’s arguably more appealing than ever, but it still has its shortcomings.

Make no mistake, the redesigned Sequoia’s fuel economy is a huge improvement over the last generation model (less than 16 miles per gallon combined). It now comes standard with a hybrid powertrain, a huge positive for its efficiency. It gets around 506 miles of driving range thanks to its 22.5-gallon tank size and decent gas mileage.
The new 2023 SUV has definitely gotten more efficient with its redesign, but its fuel economy remains nightmare fuel for some consumers. Many are underwhelmed by the Sequoia’s new gas mileage estimates because of its standard hybrid powertrain.
The 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat gets scary gas mileage
Most drivers, particularly gearheads, don’t expect any Hellcat model to be efficient. Hellcat configurations are all about performance and big, thirsty engines. On the other hand, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat’s fuel economy could still catch some consumers by surprise in a frightening fashion.

The 2023 Durango SRT Hellcat uses a mighty 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that makes a massive 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. That’s an exceptional amount of power for any SUV, let alone a full-size SUV. Unfortunately, with great power often comes high costs of ownership.
Chances are most people aren’t getting the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat with gas mileage in mind, but its poor estimated combined fuel economy earns it a place among the scariest gas guzzlers on the market for the budget-conscious.
