For the 2022 model year, the Nissan Frontier received its first complete redesign in nearly two decades. The Nissan Frontier is too successful to be killed
Although the Frontier has never been one of the best-selling trucks, at the beginning of 2022, it did make some notable progress. The only mid-size truck that outsold the 2022 Nissan Frontier was the 2022 Toyota Tacoma, and even then, the Tacoma saw some serious decline in sales.
There are likely a few reasons that the Frontier has found new success. It now comes standard with a V6 engine, which is something that you usually have to pay extra for with other mid-size trucks. Additionally, the Frontier PRO-4X continues to dominate off-road, with a beefier suspension and four-wheel drive.
Another perk of the 2022 Nissan Frontier is its price point. This mid-size truck starts at under $30,000, which helps it to be a more affordable pickup for buyers. It may not be as cheap as something like the Ford Maverick, but as new trucks become more expensive, it is nice to not shell out $50,000 on a new ride.
How much power does the 2022 Frontier have?
One of the biggest changes for the new Nissan Frontier is its powertrain, with the 3.8-liter V6 engine, this truck benefits from 310 horsepower and 281 pound-foot of torque. It comes equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and both four and rear-wheel drive are available.
Perhaps one of the more disappointing elements of the 2022 Frontier, according to Car and Driver, is the lack of a manual transmission. In the past, Nissan’s mid-size truck could come outfitted with a standard transmission, but that is no longer the case. If you want a mid-size pickup with a manual, you will have to look to the Toyota Tacoma or Jeep Gladiator.
Is the Nissan Frontier the same as the Navara?
In some parts of the world, the Frontier is known as the Navara. Now, these trucks are not completely the same, but they are fairly similar. The Navara is sold in places like South America, while the Frontier is sold in North America.
The Navara is still being sold as the previous generation Frontier, so the current Frontier is in the third generation while the Navara is in its second generation.
Can you order a 2022 Nissan Frontier?
The 2022 Frontier is currently on-sale. Because of that, you can go out and buy one if you are shopping for a mid-size truck. With today’s supply chain issues and other problems, it may be difficult to find a Frontier without a dealership mark-up. But, it can be possible if you want a pickup truck that features a V6 engine.
