Nissan is a well-loved brand with a broad scope of auto options available to the masses. From cutting edge electronic vehicles to trucks with off-roading capabilities, Nissan delivers on all fronts. But today, the future of Nissan ––and many other car manufacturers –– looks uncertain.

Where are the Nissan facilities closing?

In the wake of the coronavirus crisis, auto manufacture factories across the globe are freezing production in an effort to contain the virus. Tuesday, Nissan announced that it would be halting production in its U.K. factories in order to combat the pandemic.

LONDON – Nissan has stopped output at Britain’s biggest car factory due to the impact from coronavirus as it assesses supply-chain disruption and the drop in demand, the most significant closure to affect the country’s autos sector so far from the outbreak.

Thousands of people will be out of work for undetermined amounts of time. Auto manufacture factory workers, as well as corporate positions, are suffering tremendously.

Beginning Friday, March 20, 2020, the U.S. Nissan factory –– located in Smyrna, Tennessee –– will cease production. The corporate office located in the Spring Hill Nissan headquarters will also be reducing its operations.

Officials said in their recent statement, “The company is taking this action to boost containment efforts where possible around the COVID-19 coronavirus.” Nissan went on to state with assurance that “currently, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus at any Nissan facility. Areas deemed business-essential will operate with enhanced safety measures.”

How does Nissan plan to help?

In an attempt to compensate for the economic upset, Nissan has enacted a new NMAC enhanced offer on select vehicles. This means offers for current Nissan customers and potential buyers of new Nissan models.

Customer service is available by phone to work with current Nissan customers. Deferred payments on Nissan leases as well as retail plans include payment extensions. While the high-volume of calls may mean it will take a while to talk to someone, now may be the time to explore your options if you are a Nissan driver.

The potential Nissan buyer can explore the 90-Day “delayed payment option” for new special APR customers. In order to provide some extra support during this uncertain time, NMAC is offering this option to anyone who buys a new Nissan with special APR up to 72 months.

Which Models are available under this incentive?

If you are wondering which models Nissan is offering under this special, the list is pretty long. The 90-day delayed payment option is available on a number of Nissan models as follows:

The 2019 and 2020 Sentra, 2020 Altima, 2020 Maxima, 2019 and 2020 Kicks, 2020 Rogue, 2019 and 2020 Rogue Sport, 2020 Murano, 2019 and 2020 Pathfinder, 2019 and 2020 Armada, 2019 Frontier, 2019 and 2020 Titan, 2019 and 2020 Titan XD, 2019 and 2020 LEAF, as well as the 2019 and 2020 NV200.

The future of auto manufacture.

There is no way to know what will happen next. There are countless predictions hitting the press as the crisis continues. We can only hope that, in time, things will bounce back and level out as they have in the past. The future of auto manufacture is uncertain.

A few weeks ago, semi-autonomous and autonomous cars were the next big thing, now the industry has taken a new turn in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. It’s anyone’s guess what the future will hold for the auto industry.
