The Nissan Frontier Has Been Hit With Another Recall
The 2022 Nissan Frontier has proven itself as a popular mid-size truck. After the first full redesign in nearly 20 years, this pickup is one worth buying. But, it has not been immune to recalls. Recently, Nissan Frontiers starting from 2020 to 2022 have been impacted by a recall. The Nissan Titan is also affected. Nearly 180,200 trucks have been affected by a pretty scary problem, and that is rolling away while in park.
Does the 2022 Nissan Frontier have a recall?
The current Frontier is impacted by multiple recalls. According to Car and Driver, the most recent recall is to address trucks rolling away. If your truck is affected, even if you have shifted into park, your pickup might still move. So, until the issue is resolved, Nissan has recommended engaging the parking brake.
Clearly, this issue is not ideal. Apparently, it is an issue with the nine-speed automatic transmission. This trans has been used in both the new Nissan Frontier as well as the Nissan Titan. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this problem is just limited to Nissan trucks.
If your truck is affected, you should receive a notice from Nissan. Although it appears that there is not yet a permanent fix outside of using the parking brake.
Should you buy a Nissan Frontier?
If you are interested in a new mid-size truck, the 2022 Frontier is still a good buy. It comes standard with a V6 engine and also offers things like four-wheel drive. Plus, you can get a base model for under $30,000. And that makes the new Frontier fairly budget-friendly. Just don’t expect to get something like the PRO-4X for cheap.
Recalls are fixed for free by the manufacturer. And even with some current recalls, you should be able to drive a Nissan Frontier with relative confidence. Whether you are looking for a work truck or something to go off-road with.
In today’s world, it’s hard not to find a new vehicle that does not have an open recall. So, the fact that the 2022 Frontier should not be surprising. Especially since the transmission is relatively pretty new.
Is the Frontier a good truck?
While the Nissan Frontier is not selling as well as something like the Toyota Tacoma, it is still a worthy pickup. With its 3.8-liter V6 engine, you will benefit from 310 horsepower and 281 pound-foot of torque. And the new Frontier can even tow up to 6,720 lbs. With this towing capacity, you should have a fairly usable truck.
The starting cost of this mid-size truck is $28,690. This puts the Frontier on par with most of its competitors. You also get what is essentially an all-new truck. Nissan has given its mid-size truck a serious upgrade. It makes the interior feel nicer and the truck looks more rugged. Both those things are likely a plus for those who want a new pickup.
If you still want a Frontier, but don’t want the new generation, you can always buy used. Just keep in mind, the current recall goes back to 2020 models. So, keep that in mind.
