The 2021 Nissan Armada, however, is fresh off the production line and according to the experts, might be the most comfortable large SUV you could buy.

The 2021 Nissan Armada is refreshed and more comfortable than ever

The newest Nissan Armada comes refreshed for the 2021 model year, but it’s a fairly significant makeover. According to The Roadshow by CNET, the 2021 Nissan Armada’s “substantial refresh has brought this big boy into the modern era,” with Nissan prioritizing “comfort at every opportunity.”

While the newest Armada is still the same capable SUV down in its bones, the 2021 model year focuses on being the most tech-forward, passenger-centered, and plushest yet.

Large and capable, the Nissan Armada doesn’t feel stiff or bulky. In fact, CNET experts say it’s a “mighty comfortable” SUV. Leather seating comes standard in all trim levels except for base models, but regardless, “the seats themselves are mighty comfortable across all three rows.”

Even the third-row, which is often the crux of most three-row SUVs, is equally comfortable for passengers and offers “a suitable amount of space for grown adults.” Other updates to the interior’s design and technology also help the Armada to become the most comfortable yet.

The Nissan Armada’s best features

Some of the 2021 Nissan Armada’s best features are in its interior, which has been refreshed with a new center stack, console, and more. CNET experts say “the utilization of space is much better this time around” and “you’ll never run out of places to stash stuff.”

Space is smartly used throughout the Armada, offering plenty of functionality, while also maintaining its expansive, impressive 95.4 cubic-feet of cargo space with both second and third rows folded down.

The interior also gets an updated infotainment center, with a new, impressive 12.3-inch touchscreen display that finally matches the enormity of the Armada and comes standard on all trim levels. There is also a 7-inch digital screen added to the cluster gauge.

According to CNET experts, the newest Nissan Armada has the performance to match its impressive interior. All trim levels come standard with a 5.6-liter eight-cylinder engine that makes 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Its size and power give the 2021 Nissan Armada best-in-class standard towing capacity of 8,500 pounds.

As is to be expected from Nissan, the 2021 Armada comes loaded with safety tech that rivals any other SUV from any other brand. According to Nissan, the 2021 Armada comes standard with the Safety Shield 360 suite of safety tech, including automatic emergency with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking with traffic alert, high beam assist, and lane departure warning.

Standard adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist are also new for the 2021 model year. 

There are a few areas this SUV could have been improved

The biggest downfall to the Nissan Armada is one that should be considered a tradeoff. The 2021 model’s fuel-economy ratings don’t stray far from its predecessors’, which aren’t great overall.

While the exact ratings aren’t published yet, the 2020 Armada’s estimated 13 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on the highway isn’t impressive. But for an enormous, three-row SUV, most buyers shouldn’t expect the best fuel-ratings available. 

With the 2021 Nissan Armada’s newest updates, its low fuel-economy ratings are really its only downfall. The newest Armada is comfortable, spacious, capable, and powerful enough for families of all sizes.
