Any change to the Nissan Rogue is a big deal. That’s because it represents 35% of all Nissan sales in the U.S. and has the third-fastest sales in the U.S. compact crossover segment. So it’s a big deal that the 2024 Rogue gets a refresh, with first deliveries coming soon after the new year.

Much will change for the Rogue in 2024. On the outside, a new fascia incorporates Nissan’s V-motion grille design and new intakes on either side. In the back, the taillights also get a revision with new LED graphics. And, of course, the obligatory three new paint colors. 

What are some of the 2024 changes for the Nissan Rogue?

The top-of-the-line Platinum trim features gloss black accents on the fenders, skirts, and lower fascias. There are also new 19-inch wheels , giving a more progressive overall look. 

But what might be more interesting is inside. The new infotainment center now features Google Built-in services. That means Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play are all there. The touchscreen also displays information from your personal Google Account. 

Did Nissan improve the 2024 Rogue safety suite?

There is also wireless connectivity, all on display with the 12.3-inch touchscreen. And you don’t need a smartphone. Augmenting the infotainment screen is a digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. S and SV trims get an eight-inch screen incorporating Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Door panels, seats, and center console are new, featuring Nissan’s newest fabrics and trim.

Engine-wise, the previous 1.5-liter VC Turbo gas engine produced 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. This spins the Xtronic CVT automatic transmission. Front- or four-wheel drive are both available. Why the U.S. isn’t getting the two hybrid systems Nissan offers in other countries is a shame. Maybe it will arrive for the 2025 model?

On the safety front, base model Rogues get the Nissan Safety Shield 360 ADAS suite. But moving up one notch to the SV gets buyers the ProPilot Assist. Going up the ladder another rung, Nissan adds the Navi-Link system. 

When did this version first come out?

The 2024 revision is based on the 2020 Rogue, so it has seen four model years with little change. Last year, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V outsold the Rogue in this crossover segment—the Rogue also trails in third behind the Mazda CX-50 and Buick Envision for the fastest-growing crossover brand. 

Nissan hasn’t announced pricing as of yet, according to Automotive News. And we won’t know for a while if it intends to add hybrid options to X-Trail, coming in the Fall of 2024. That would be a welcome addition should the Japanese automaker decide to make that move.
