No Sedan Sold More in Q1 2021 Than the Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry is a midsize family sedan known for its good fuel economy, comfortable ride, quiet cabin, and easy-to-use controls. The refreshed 2021 Toyota Camry has an exciting lineup, improved interior and exterior style, and a high safety priority. Toyota Camry is not the fanciest car around, but for several years, it has been one of the best-selling sedans in the U.S.
The Camry’s main rivals are the Kia K5, Honda Accord, and Mazda6. According to the list provided by Car and Driver, so far, no sedan has sold more than the Toyota Camry. Below are some other sedans appeared on the list.
Toyota Camry is so far the best non-truck and non-SUV in 2021 sales
The sedan had a 4 percent increase in sales from last year after selling 78,151 units. This increase has made the vehicle beat out most of the entries on the list consisting of trucks and SUVs.
For quite a long time, Toyota Camry has had a reputation for reliability and affordability, which is perhaps is one of the reasons why it has been performing well in terms of sales.
For the 2021 model, Toyota made a few notable changes that include; dropping off the L trim level making LE the cheapest model, minor changes on the interior and exterior styling, refined driver safety aids, new optional 9-inch infotainment system, and new XSE Hybrid trim with a hybrid powertrain. The 301-hp V6 engine is available in XLE, XSE, and TRD models.

The 2021 Nissan Sentra has sold more than its big sibling
This compact sedan from Nissan has so far sold a total of 37,237 units compared to the Toyota Camry’s over 78,000 units. According to Car and Drive, this is 56 percent sales increase over last year sales. The Sentra is among the smallest sedan in the Nissan lineup but has sold more than its big sibling, the Nissan Altima.
Some changes made to the 2021 Sentra lineup include that the S model now has standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the SR trim comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot, NissanConnect Services, and new-tone paint.
The 2021 Honda models have slightly decreased in sales
The midsize sedan has so far sold 46,591 units, a 1 percent decrease from the previous year’s sales. It is recognized for its flawless driving dynamics, easy-to-use infotainment, practicality, and affordability.
For 2021, Honda refreshed the Accord and Accord Hybrid models with a light styling that includes; a tweaked grille design, optional LED headlamps, alloy wheel designs, and Sonic Gray Pearl. All the trim levels boast an 8.0-inch infotainment display that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Sales of the 2021 Honda Civic were down by 13 percent at the first few months of the year after selling 55,903 units.
The 2021 Civic boasts plenty of driver-assistance features even on the smallest cars, focus on practicality and spacious cabin. However, the infotainment features are not standard, with the base LX model coming with a tiny touchscreen.
The 2021 Toyota Camry’s little sibling beats its main rival in terms of sales
The 2021 Toyota Corolla sales increased by 8 percent in the first quarter of the year after selling 75,520 units. Though not as exciting as its main rival Honda Civic, the Toyota Corolla had more sales than it. The Corolla has a strong reputation for its reliability, affordability, safety-minded, offers a comfortable ride, and has desirable standard features.
In the 2021 model, Toyota added limited-production to the hatchback lineup with Supersonic Red Paint and an exclusive body kit. It also comes with rear seat-mounted side airbags. Toyota also introduced a limited-production trim level referred to as the Apex edition, which comes with manual transmissions and summer tires.
The year 2020 was tough for the car dealers in sales, but the first quarter of 2021 yielded positive results. The sales number appear to be much higher than those of last year. With the economy gaining stability and the ever-increasing popularity of trucks, SUVs, and sedans, it is most likely that the auto industry will continue to enjoy high sales this year.
