Build another trophy case for the Ford Maverick Hybrid. It’s running out of places to display its awards. This little truck can’t stop and won’t stop dominating the tiny truck market. So, it’s not too much of a surprise that the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid won the Best Fleet Value Award.
What makes the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid the best work truck?
It’s no secret that the 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid provides plenty of value for fleets, but it’s a little surprising that Ford has pumped out enough models for fleets to use. The Maverick is in extremely high demand, and inventory is limited.
But according to Ford Authority, the 2023 Maverick earned the Best Fleet Value Award from Vencentric because it won 21 out of 28 lifecycle cost scenarios to deliver unmatched value. The Maverick defeated 55 competitors and has the lowest maintenance and operating costs in its class.
Vencentric performed a cost analysis fleet study by comparing over 2,000 vehicles based on depreciation, fees, taxes, financing, insurance, repairs, fuel, maintenance, and opportunity cost. Each vehicle was judged in all 50 states.
Winners are then identified based on which options have the lowest fleet lifestyle cost based on the scenarios in their segment.
How many miles per gallon does the 2023 Maverick Hybrid get?
The 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 42 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. This could provide fleets with tons of savings on fuel.
The Maverick Hybrid is also affordable, with its $22,195 MSRP. It has a $1,495 destination fee, allowing it to start under $25,000.
But areas that get a lot of snow or fleets that require off-roading around work sites may be disappointed to discover that the Maverick Hybrid can’t be paired with all-wheel drive or the max tow package. It can tow up to 2,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,564 lbs.
The Maverick Hybrid XL trim actually won the award and is pretty loaded. The Maverick Hybrid features LED headlights, 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, power windows, air conditioning, and rear seat under storage compartments.
You also get an 8.0-inch infotainment system, a six-speaker sterile system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, cruise control, and forward collision mitigation. This configuration provides the most value.
Upgrade to the XLT trim only adds alloy wheels, upgraded upholstery, a rear center armrest with cup holders, and a power-locking tailgate.
How reliable is the Maverick Hybrid?
The 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid is pretty reliable. J.D.Power gave it a score of 81 out of 100, so it barely managed to get in the above-average category. Scores between 70 and 80 are average, and anything between 81 and 90 is above average.
It’s a little early to determine the average annual maintenance cost for the Ford Maverick. It just hit the streets in 2022, and there haven’t been enough models in repair shops to provide a fair estimate.
But we can assume that it will have a lower-than-average maintenance cost. The Ford Escape is similar and costs about $600 to maintain annually. The average new vehicle costs about $650 to maintain.
