Not Even 1 Subaru Crosstrek Owner Has Reported a Problem on RepairPal
In terms of being a reliable SUV, the Subaru Crosstrek has a lot going for it. At least when you take a look at owner complaints over on RepairPal. Whether it be a 2017 Crosstrek or a new Crosstrek, this vehicle actually has no reported problems on that site. And that’s a pretty good thing for someone who needs a small SUV that comes with all-wheel drive. So, just how reliable is the Subaru Crosstrek?
Is the Subaru Crosstrek among the most reliable small SUVs?
According to owners, the Subaru Crosstrek is a reliable small SUV. This model has been in production since 2012, and since its introduction, it has been fairly popular. The Crosstrek might not be as big as the Forester or Outback, but it is still usable.
Each Crosstrek comes equipped with Subaru’s AWD system, and that tends to be one of the reasons folks flock to the Subaru brand. Unless you are looking at a BRZ, you are going to get power going to all four wheels without having to pay extra.
For the 2018 model year, the Subaru Crosstrek moved to its second generation. And that means Crosstreks that are 2018 or newer ride on the Subaru Global Platform. This platform increases rigidity while also lowering the center of gravity. Overall, it helps to make the Crosstrek a more comfortable and engaging drive.
Common Subaru Crosstrek problems
According to RepairPal, there are not any reported problems for the Subaru Crosstrek. That does not mean that this vehicle doesn’t have its issues. But, if you want a reliable small SUV, it seems like this Subaru could be it.
Subaru is a brand that has high perceived reliability. I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials where this automaker brags about how long its vehicles last. With proper maintenance and repair, most modern cars should be reliable. But it is nice to know that owners seem to have little to no problems with the Crosstrek.
This Subaru could be a safe pick for those who want a small SUV
If you don’t need three rows of seating but still want the practicality of an SUV, the Crosstrek seems to be a safe bet. For the 2022 model, J.D. Power gave it a reliability rating of 83 out of 100. This gives the Crosstrek the #3 spot for the best small SUV of 2022.
This Subaru SUV even offers some enthusiast cred, proving that crossovers don’t have to be boring. You can actually buy a new Crosstrek with a manual transmission if you are interested in rowing your own gears. That, paired with the standard AWD, is pretty cool, at least in my opinion.
It’s not clear with the next-gen Crosstrek will still offer a standard transmission, but we aren’t getting our hopes up. However, it will still be a rugged vehicle with plenty of safety tech and a solid sense of utility.
And, if Crosstrek models of the past are any indication, it will likely be reliable as well.
