You Can Now Reserve an EV With 1,000 Miles of Range for Under $45,000
Move over Tesla Model S. There’s a new EV in town with insane miles of range. Aptera is ready to reenter the electric vehicle race, and it might just change EVs as we know them. The best part is the price to reserve one is very affordable. So what is this new EV, and how much will it cost you?
Return of the Aptera
In 2006, Chris Anthony and Steve Fambro dreamed of designing and building vehicles that ran on electricity. It wasn’t exactly a new idea, as EVs have been around for years now, but they weren’t popular at that time. This led to Aptera Motors going on hold for about a decade.
Tesla changed things, and revived interests in EVs. Now, Aptera is focused less on charging stations and on using the sun to power its vehicles.
Most electric vehicle owners quickly become aware that as amazing as not hitting gas pumps is, there is a significant lack of charging stations. In fact, to go on a simple road trip, you must carefully plan your route to make sure you hit a charging station.
It takes the fun out of driving and seeing where you end up. With the Aptera, you no longer have to worry about this. Sunlight charges your vehicle as you go, and for some models, you can travel about 1,000 miles on a single charge.
Make your reservation now
Aptera is now taking reservations for this incredible little vehicle. For many cars such as this, it would take a massive amount of money, which would be beyond the average consumer’s budget. That’s not the case for the Aptera.
For a mere $100, you can reserve an Aptera today. The company seems determined to make it both affordable and available to everyone, which is virtually unheard of in the automotive world. So how exactly is this possible?
Aptera raised over $40 million. All this is passed to customers to help them purchase the Aptera.
The Aptera has some impressive specs, including its miles of range
With a reservation price of $100, the next logical question is how much you’ll end up paying. In this case, the Aptera has a price range of $25,900 to $50,700.
It has a battery range of 250 to 1,000 miles and can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.5 to 5.5 seconds. The drive system is 100 to 150 kW. The daily solar charge capacity is 16 miles to 40 miles.
You have the option of really customizing your Aptera, which is nice. With just a few clicks of your mouse, you can choose between a range of 250, 400, 600, or 1,000 miles. Next, you’ll choose between a solar hood, solar rear hatch, or all panels. A solar roof and dash are included.
What’s cool is that you can also pick whether you want a front-wheel-drive system, or an all-wheel-drive. If you choose AWD, it increases the price by $2,500.
There are three standard color choices for the exterior and three for the interior. You also have an option to customize it, although you’ll have to wait for Aptera Motors to contact you with more details.
So when can you expect your Aptera once you make a reservation? Well, that’s not exactly clear. Aptera Motors hopes to produce around 10,000 per year.
That’s a respectable number, but it could mean you may have to wait a while to get one. Still, you’re only investing $100, so it’s definitely worth the wait.
