One Reviewer Actually Still Loves the Nissan Frontier
While many critics have shunned the Nissan Frontier, and consider it tired, outdated, and uninteresting, others disagree. In fact, one reviewer in particular raves about it. If you’re an avid sportsman, keep reading. The 2018 Nissan Frontier Midnight Edition might just be the truck you end up loving too.
What did Nissan Frontier have going on in 2018?
It’s hard to believe we’re almost heading into the 20s. In the cycle of automotive models, looking back to 2018 seems like eons ago. But, the Nissan Frontier isn’t known for having major improvements year after year. Not much is said to be fresh about 2019s version, and 2018 hadn’t offered significant enhancements either.
Although, that year, the standard review camera was a new thing, as was Bluetooth connectivity and Siri Eyes Free. The Frontier had a 5-inch color display and hands-free phone capability. Considering what some of the other midsize trucks had introduced at the time, there isn’t much to report in terms of options, standards, and features for the Frontier.
But alas, it did offer something new! Nissan introduced the Midnight Edition for the 2018 Frontier.
The introduction of the 2018 Midnight Edition
Imagine a blacked-out version of the Frontier. The grille, step rails, bumpers, badging, and even the door handles were blacked-out. Now picture the 18-inch black aluminum-alloy wheels. It’s as if the Nissan Frontier had slipped into its perfect little black dress. But it wasn’t all about appearances. The Midnight Edition also boasted a 4.0L V6 with 5-speed auto transmission. Meaning this dark pickup could pack a 261 HP punch with 281 lb-ft of torque. It had beauty and brains. It’s also pretty amazing to drive.
Why sportspeople everywhere love it
Sportsmen and women unite. This is the truck for you. At least Tim Esterdahl thought so back in 2018 when he gave a tremendous review on the 2018 Nissan Frontier. Anyone venturing to the great outdoors, whether to hunting or fishing, knows you don’t need bells and whistles to come home with dinner. Alternatively, hunters are climbing in and out with muddy boots, bird dogs, and sometimes bloody hands. What true sportspeople need is an outdoor enthusiast-minded pickup. The 2018 Nissan Frontier Midnight Edition is just that truck.
Dark means invisible to game
The blacked-out features of the truck make it ideal for driving into secluded areas for prime hunting spots. Avoid scaring off the geese with unnecessary chrome. It’s a small enough truck to navigate through sparse areas of timber as well. You can drive right on in and know that your Frontier, dipped in a cloak of midnight, won’t be alarming to passing game.
Bringing home the bacon is easier too
It’s no secret that the Nissan Frontier is a reliable and functional truck. It may not win awards or top the lists, but it is quality. You won’t get stranded in the country or have trouble navigating muddy dirt roads. You can hoist your deer into the bed a little easier too. The Frontier’s tailgate sits lower than the full-size trucks. Climbing in and out with your gear and game is almost effortless.
Can’t beat the price
You can’t begin to buy a new truck for less than $20k these days. Or can you? Crowned the cheapest truck in America, the Nissan Frontier is known for its affordability. You are getting so much truck, for considerably less. It’s a smart consideration for a midsize pickup purchase, especially if being best in class with luxury amenities doesn’t concern you.
The Midnight Edition of the 2018 Nissan Frontier is fantastic version of the old stand-by Frontier. It’s sharp for showing off as your daily driver, with blacked-out features. It’s also ideal for functional outdoor sportsmanship and general work. It is definitely worth your consideration. While there may only be one reviewer who still loves the Frontier, we venture to guess there’s plenty of consumers, outdoorsmen, and sportsmen out there who still love it too.
