Only 1 Car Company Has Held the Top Spot In KBB’s Brand Watch Survey for Nearly 5 Years
When it comes to buying a reliable, sensible car with the most value for money, one name is always in the conversation: Toyota. In fact, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) says the Japanese car maker has topped the KBB Brand Watch Report for the better part of five years. Here’s what makes Toyota the most considered car company among shoppers, like the dependable Camry.
Toyota is the top car company on shoppers’ minds
Toyota topped KBB’s Brand Watch Report for most quarters in the past five years. According to the survey, more car shoppers considered a vehicle from the car company than any other brand on the market. Specifically, 33% of shoppers in Q4 2022 considered a one instead of vehicles from other manufacturers.
However, the marque doesn’t have much of a lead; 30% of potential owners sought Chevrolet, and 29% considered Ford. Moreover, KBB says GMC snagged fifth place for the first time ever.
Is Toyota or Honda more reliable?
While both car brands are often comparable regarding reliability, Toyota’s vehicles frequently take first place in individual segments. For instance, iSeeCars says that the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Tundra, and Avalon dominate most of their respective categories, including large cars, three-row SUVs, and midsize SUVs.
Moreover, the Sienna is No. 1 of the reliable minivans on the market, and the Highlander took first place in the crossover SUV category.
Do Toyota vehicles last a long time?
Toyota’s vehicles took most of the spots on iSeeCars’ list of the longest-lasting cars on the market. Specifically, 10 of the automakers’ cars, SUVs, minivans, and trucks secured spots in the top 20 longest-lasting models.
For instance, the car company snagged the top three spots in the list of hybrids with the most extended potential lifespans. The Prius, Highlander Hybrid, and Camry Hybrid all have potential lifespans of well over 200,000 miles. In fact, the Prius has a potential lifespan of 250,601 miles. However, that doesn’t mean that a Prius can’t last 300,000 miles or more with proper care and maintenance.
Is Toyota more affordable than Honda?
Both manufacturers are affordable, but Toyota’s models typically start at a lower price point than comparable Hondas. For instance, the 2023 Corolla starts at around $22,645, whereas its rival, the Honda Civic, starts at about $24,545.
The news is the same with larger, more premium models; an entry-level 2023 Camry is nearly $1,000 cheaper than its Honda counterpart, the Accord.
What is the most efficient Toyota?
The most efficient Toyota in the car company’s recent lineup is the new 2023 Prius. TrueCar says the Prius gets up to 57 mpg combined, and the Prius Prime returns around 54 mpg combined. As a result, the Prime is even more efficient than competitors like the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue.
