Are you interested in purchasing a truck from the Ford lineup? As one of the most popular automakers in the world, Ford has a few excellent pickup truck options to choose from. However, if you’re on a tight budget, there’s only one viable option. A single Ford pickup starts under $25,000, and it isn’t the most popular Ford F-150 or even the midsize Ranger. The only Ford truck that starts under $25,000 is the 2022 Ford Maverick.

Shopping for a Ford truck is challenging. There are many outstanding options throughout the pickup lineup. Firstly, according to Ford, the best-selling F-150 starts at $30,870. It’s a full-size truck with everything an owner could ask for, which is why it’s sold so well for so long. Of course, there are even larger and more powerful options, like the F-250 Super Duty, which starts at $38,445. Lastly, the new fully-electric F-150 Lightning is now available, starting at $39,974.

However, if you’re not interested in a full-size truck with raw pickup power, you might want something smaller. The most famous option is the Ranger, which starts at $25,980. Some reviewers, like Consumer Reports, love the Ranger for its fuel efficiency, maneuverable size, and reliability. Alternatively, Ford’s newest member of the compact/midsize truck category is even better and much more affordable.

If you’re looking for a highly affordable Ford truck, the Maverick is the best option. Starting at $20,995, the standard hybrid model is fuel-efficient and surprisingly well-rounded. Even stepping up to the XLT trim level remains under $25,000, starting at $23,360. The XL, XLT, and Lariat models come standard with a 2.5-liter hybrid engine, but a 2.0-liter EcoBoost non-hybrid version is available for $435. For those interested in a more luxurious truck, the Maverick Lariat starts at $26,860, barely exceeding the $25,000 mark.

It’s surprising how many excellent features come with the Maverick for this price. For example, the XL model has LED headlights, 17-inch steel wheels, cloth upholstery, power windows, air conditioning, rear under-seat storage, an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, six speakers, and forward collision mitigation. Opting for the upgraded XLT gets you alloy wheels, upgraded upholstery, a rear center armrest with cupholders, a power-locking tailgate, and cruise control.

On top of the standard equipment, customers can choose to upgrade their Maverick with more features. Firstly, the Lariat Luxury package unlocks many luxurious amenities. Things like outlets, a spray-in bed liner, Ford Sync 3 infotainment, a wireless charging pad, B&O audio, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, and evasive steering assist.

Next, the 4K Towing package adds a trailer hitch receiver with a seven-pin trailer wiring harness connector and upgraded powertrain cooling. For those interested in taking the Maverick off-road, the FX4 Off-Road package with all-wheel drive grants owners access to all-terrain tires, exposed front tow hooks, hill descent control, and skid plates.

Lastly, a Ford Co-Pilot360 package with blind-spot monitor and lane-keeping assist is available. According to Ford, buying the Maverick Lariat with all of these packages, the non-hybrid engine, and all-wheel drive costs $36,995 with destination charges.
