Only 1 Jeep SUV Has Positive Growth While Others Struggles
Someone needs to go check on Jeep and ask if it’s okay. Sales haven’t been going well for the Jeep Wrangler or Jeep Grand Cherokee. But going larger in one segment is helping Jeep SUVs stay alive at the moment.
The Jeep Wagoneer has increasing sales
You may think that the best Jeep SUV is the Wrangler, and that’s an excellent guess. It’s been around for decades and helped win a war.
But unfortunately, it has been facing declining sales even though the recent mid-cycle refresh provides amazing upgrades.
During the first half of 2023, about 84,642 Wrangler models were sold. During the first half of 2024, this figure was reduced to 77,2024 units for a 9.0% sales decline year-over-year.
But the Wrangler isn’t alone on its sinking ship. Compared to the first half of 2023, the Jeep Cherokee is experiencing a 26% sales decrease with 52,296 sales during the first half of the year.
However, the Jeep Wagoneer is a ray of hope in the storm. The Jeep Wagoneer sold 13,635 models in the first of 2023. During the first half of 2024, it moved 29,865 models, for a 119% sales increase.
To put that in perspective, the Chevy Suburban moved 21,463 SUVs during the first half of 2024. So, the Wagoneer is an extremely competitive Jeep SUV.
But this doesn’t exactly make sense. Aside from the original Wagoneer, Jeep is known for making small and compact vehicles. Going larger with the Jeep Wrangler and adding a third row to the Jeep Grand Cherokee helped make things better for families.
They must need even more space if people are upgrading to the massive Wagoneer. Also, the 2024 Wrangler has an MSRP of $31,995, and the Grand Cherokee starts at $38,035.
Then the Wagoneer rings in with an MSRP of $62,945. This hurts the potential argument that the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are too expensive because the Wagoneer nearly costs double.
But have you driven the Jeep Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer? These SUVs are on a different level for families looking for space, comfort, convenience, and off-roading capabilities.
