There is an abundance of SUV choices available. Many of them are expensive, though — and not affordable for many automotive customers. However, a couple of models are budget-friendly picks: the 2023 Kia Soul and the 2023 Hyundai Venue. These two subcompacts are the only two new SUVs that have a starting cost of $19K. Also, the Soul and Venue provide very generous 10-year warranty coverage.

Supply chain shortages and high inflation have caused the price of new vehicles to rise significantly over the past two years. Consequently, it can be challenging to find a vehicle that won’t do some serious damage to your bank account.

However, for SUV shoppers, the 2023 Kia Soul and the 2023 Hyundai Venue subcompacts are financially accessible. They are the two most affordable new SUVs. The Soul has a starting price of $19,890 MSRP, while the Venue starts at $19,650 MSRP.

After that, the next cheapest one is the 2023 Nissan Kicks ($20,440 MSRP), followed by the 2024 Chevy Trax ($21,495 MSRP), 2023 Chevy Trailblazer ($22,100 MSRP), 2023 Hyundai Kona ($22,140 MSRP), and 2023 Mazda CX-30 ($22,950 MSRP). The most affordable new SUV top 10 list is rounded out by the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ($22,995 MSRP), 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross ($23,060 MSRP), and 2023 Kia Seltos ($23,340 MSRP).

Like the Soul and Venue, all of these other models are subcompact SUVs.

Along with being the only new SUVs to have a starting price of $19K, the 2023 Kia Soul and the 2023 Hyundai Venue have very generous warranty coverage. This further adds to their affordability, for it minimizes the cost that owners have to pay for repairs.

All Soul and Venue models have the backing of a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty. This coverage is the best in the automotive industry. It’s much longer than the standard of a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty for most other SUVs.

For the Soul and Venue, many repairs and parts replacement costs will be covered long after the warranties end for other SUV models. This translates to considerable savings over the long haul. As a result, not only are these two subcompact SUVs cheap to buy, but they are also cheap to own.

2023 Soul and Venue: Budget-friendly SUVs

Another aspect of the affordability of the 2023 Kia Soul and the 2023 Hyundai Venue is their high fuel economy. While SUVs tend to be gas-guzzlers, these subcompact models are efficient. Both the Soul and Venue get an estimated gas mileage of up to 31 combined mpg.

While the average price of gasoline has dropped from its record highs during 2022, it’s still a major cost of vehicle ownership. With this in mind, the high efficiency of the Soul and Venue minimizes the economic pain at the pump.

For automotive shoppers on the hunt for a cheap SUV, the 2023 Kia Soul and the 2023 Hyundai Venue are worth considering. They are the only new SUVs with a starting price of $19K. And the two subcompacts are affordable to own with their 10-year warranty and money-saving high fuel economy.
