Honda Civic
Often, CarComplaints.com will deem a “worst” model year separate form the model year with the most complaints. However, the Honda Civic from the 2001 model year has the most complaints on file. Plus, it is also considered the worst Civic model overall.
The problem is dire: transmission failure. Thankfully, the 2001 model year is pretty far in the past. Are there more recent model years we might want to be wary of? There are 6,449 total complaints about the Honda Civic filed with CarComplaints.com, so surely there are other model years with large numbers of complaints.
We know that the 2001 Honda Civic is reported as the worst Civic model. It also has the most complaints as well as the most common complaint. Yet, the 2006 model year shows a high number of complaints as well.
More recently, it looks like the 2016 model year has a higher number of complaints than a few other models. These complaints are recorded mostly for problems with the interior accessories and AC/heater issues. Overall, the Civic is the second most complained about Honda car. It’s also the most popular Honda car, which likely accounts for the high number of complaints.
Honda Accord
The Honda Accord is a beloved American family car. Still, no car is perfect. As great as the Honda Accord is as a model overall, it’s hit some bumps in the road. According to CarComplaints.com, the Honda Accord is the most complained about Honda car ever. It’s also, of course, the second most sold Honda car, going by 2019 and 2018 data.
On CarComplaints.com, the Honda Accord has 12,288 complaints filed. The worst Honda Accord model in terms of consumer complaints is the 2003 model year. Again, the complaints are largely for transmission issues.
The 2008 Honda Accord has the most complaints on file. The most common complaint also occurs for this model year. The 2008 Honda Civic has issues with premature brake wear. The more recent model years have very few complaints compared with older models.
2020 model year
There are, so far, zero complaints for the 2020 model year of both the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord. Additionally, there are minimal complaints for both the Civic and Accord in the 2019 model year.
Generally, Honda produces reliable new models of these popular cars and they are making consumers happy.
