Pet Mode in the Ford F-150 Lightning Will Keep Your Dog Happy
Dogs and trucks go together like peanut butter and jelly, and that’s something that the Ford F-150 Lightning understands. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning and Ford Mustang Mach-E are getting a new Pet Mode to keep your best friends safe and comfortable.
Pet Mode is coming to the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is solving one significant issue. Have y’all ever wanted to take your dog somewhere but got nervous about keeping them in your vehicle? Do you leave the window cracked?
Do you worry about someone breaking your window to free your pet? Have you considered leaving a note that explains your dog is OK? These problems may have caused thousands of furry friends to be left at home!
But Pet Mode in the Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E will change the game. According to Pickup Truck Talk, Ford filed a patent for Pet Mode, and the US Patent Office approved it on February 15, 2002. It’s also a clear shot at Tesla, which introduced Dog Mode in 2019.
How does Pet Mode in the F-150 Lightning work?
While Dog Mode doesn’t seem all-inclusive, Pet Mode is open to whatever animal you bring along in the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E. Take your cat, bird, snake, miniature horse, etc., for rides. We won’t judge. But make sure they are safe with a pet seatbelt.
Anyways, Pet Mode seems incredibly similar to Dog Mode but provides you with more control over how the vehicle can be modified to keep your pet comfortable and safe while you’re inside a store.
With the Ford Pass app, you can control the Pet Mode features with the app on your smartphone or with the keyfob. Instead of leaving a window cracked, you set a specific temperature.
You can also lower the seats, change the radio station, and adjust the volume. The patent also lists wild ideas. For example, the patent includes a hydration system. We aren’t exactly sure what that means, but it may refer to a water bowl that emerges from a hidden compartment.
An RDIF chip system may be included too. It could read the tiny microchips in pets to determine ownership. Imagine being able to scan a lost cat or dog to see if it’s chipped instead of having to find a vet!
What can the Tesla Dog Mode do?
We are still waiting to see the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pet Mode in action. Until then, we can check out the Tesla Dog Mode. While the vehicle is idling, a message pops up on the infotainment system that says, ”My owner will be back soon!” It also lists the temperature inside of the vehicle.
If the vehicle’s battery drops below 20 percent, the owner receives a push notification to tell them to get back to their furry friend. This feature used to be exclusive to Tesla, but Ford is looking to change that.
Pet Mode will be added to the Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E via over-the-air updates. We can’t wait to take our floofs more places!
