Police charge dog with reckless driving
According to the Kilgore Police Department, one of Texas’ goodest boys was being…bad. The police department charged a local dog with a reckless driving ticket. Why? Observes say he was behind the wheel when his truck hit two other cars in a Walmart parking lot.
From the police report: “One of the victims saw the suspect barrelling down on him but couldn’t get out of the way. He was shocked to see the driver was a dog! Yep, the pooch was actually behind the wheel when the crash occurred.”
The truth is that this poor pooch was left in his owner’s Ford truck during a shopping trip, he grew bored. And according to police he “got a little antsy and bounced around the cab.” His leash disengaged the emergency brake and the entire truck began to roll.
Luckily for the dog–and everyone else nearby–the truck didn’t get far. It wedged itself between a white Lincoln Navigator and a gray crossover. It’s unfortunate all three cars were damaged, but the good news is no one (human or canine) was injured. Except perhaps for their pride.
“It doesn’t sound feasible, but an eyewitness saw the pooch behind the wheel just before the crash. He certainly has a guilty look on his face.” See the post embedded below:
The Kilgore police department may have had an ulterior motive for the humorous ticket. The department has made multiple social media posts warning residents to not leave their dogs in their cars. Why? The hot weather in Texas can get to a dog trapped in a vehicle shockingly quickly. But perhaps it’s risk of your vehicle rolling away and crashing that will actually get animal owners to be responsible.
When the department posted the story of the doggo’s ticket, it racked up 1,500 reposts and 430 comments. One of the funniest was from the official account for Kilgore Animal Control: “I did NOT issue this pup[‘]s license, before anyone asks…”
